...where do I get the (optional) research data. It's like one thing after another. Foods could (optionally) have additives to boost the stats. Additives could (optionally) have research data for better stats. I just hope there's not another optional after this. (I have seen factory/Harvie structures that say data research but never heard of them, wouldn't know where to get them). Appreciate the input.

The secret research data is (as far as I know, although I've been keeping an eye out for any news) not in the game.

I actually talked to one of the devs about this. The data is intended to be a loot enhancement (so no big factory runs of data-enhanced tissues) that gives a massive increase to the tissue's bonus. The number being thrown around at the time was something like a 3x increase.

Although this was at Fan Fest. The first one. With GreenMarine (the dev who handled most of the chef revamp design), and he's since left SOE. So things might've changed

It would of been nice if it were added it in but at the same time you'd only be able to make 1 tissue with itand in turn 1 food item unless it came in a stack.
