Just getting clues as to what they're tastes are (say someone says they don't eat meat, but love Tubers, you make them some Vegeparsine). Of course there could be set limits, but having to actually cater for someone to get my reward would be great.
I would like a quest for the following schematic:
Dancer's Delight
Drinking this beverage creates the experience of being in a cantina watching ATK entertainers. It is very popular on planets in the Rim sector since live entertainment is rare.
Effect: Inspiration buff (class specific)
Duration: 30 minutes
Filling: 50
The idea of preparing a meal is very similar to the Dancer/Musician quest for Western song and Theaterical (sp?) dance.
I don't think it would be really that much content though if its just a one-time thing. And if it was an on-going thing because the schem has a limited number of uses, it wouldn't really be that much fun, it'd be an inconvenience.
Soooo, why can't we have a little mini-game instead? Maybe you get a variety of prizes, one of which could be the schematic (permenant, not limited use).
I'm thinking along the lines of the slicing UI. Instead of something that is the same every time you do it, like delivering food to some NPC at X planet, it would involve catering to your audience, mixing ingredients to find what would satisfy them the best.
I'm also very partial to the idea of an Iron Chef Competition, that would actually include a UI. It could be as simple as something similar to the Fishing UI: Add salt, remove salt. Increase heat, lower heat. Add milk, etc.
A mini-game that revolved around operating your own restuarant would be fun. Heck it could even be making omelets to order in some breakfast buffet. Just as long as we get to wear a kitchen master's hat. ![]()
I wouldn't hold your breath about content for crafters though...we're very low on the priority list unfortunately. ![]()

Here's How:
Chef heads to Bestine, talks to NPC 1, Is offered a partial schematic, the Chef has to create a meal for the NPC from native Tatooine ingredients. Based on how successful the final item is made, a sliding list with different consequenses based on final make: 0-30%, NPC is not pleased requests another mini quest food, say a bofa treat, if youu make it the NPC then let's you retry his original quest from the start. 31-60% NPC is moderately pleased, offers you a schematic for a new food, which requires only Tat ingredients, temporary schem maybe 10 uses, the NPC then tells you to retry again, no limit on the amount of schems you can get. 61-100% the NPC is extremely pleased hands over the above schem and a partial schem, he also gives you a name to find a new NPC in Theed.
Rinse and repeat for four more NPCs on other planets, So Tatooine is the starting point, Naboo, Corellia, Rori, Lok.
At the completion of the final mini quest, the chef ends up with five mini disc partial schems and a new NPC to vist, say on Yavin.
This last NPC chef, requires the Chef to make a new recipe from Yavin ingredients, once successful, he combines the 5 mini discs and his own and produces a permanent schem for the Chef. The final schem requires ingredients from all of the planets.
So in the end the chef gets up to 6 brand new 10 use schems with a final reward being a new permanent schem.
To reget the 10 use schems, the chef goes back and talks to the NPCs, "Ah yes 'player name', been awhile, I see you are out of the schem X, here it is. Take care until we next meet"
Thoughts?

I've always thought the idea of having to cook a meal for someone, with only hints of what they like would be really fun.

The healing quest in the village is much like this where you have to craft various cures.
Something along this line would be fun for chef where you have to craft various quality and types of foods.
