I was introduced to the Exo-Protein Wafer by a guildie who asked if I could make them, as well as 1 or 2 other food items. I never had, but I did have the resources, as they are similar to Synthsteak, which was always a good seller.
I made a bunch, he bought a bunch, and I learned to use them as well to help me. He said he would pop them like Tic Tacs during hunts. Lol!
I continued to use them through my Jedi grind, popping them when the spin group got hairy and Igained a lot of aggro. With a 5 filling, there is always room for one in a pinch. Iprefer it over Synthsteak because of the low filling, as I use a lot of different foods.
I just finsihed my Jedi grind this past weekend (yay forme!), and wanted to go out looking for npcs to kill and hopefully loot. I heard about the high level npcs on Dantooine, so tried my luck there. I actually found a level 111 npc, and jumped for joy. I wasnt sure if I could handle it, but decided to give it a shot (I was alone). I have all the foods to buff me (no doc buffs), so I prepared everything, as well as my health buff crystal. It was over in 1 minute, I think they have a low ham. It was close, but I prevailed, and had used maybe 2 exo-proteins during the fight.
After the battle, I looked over the combat log. The npc was hitting for 1200-1400 damage each time (I dont remember the exact number), this with imp aura up (I'm 4440 def). After taking the exo-protein, the damage mitigation message said that over 500 points of damage were absorbed by the mitigation buff. OVER 500 POINTS! For a 5 filling food, thats great! Yes, Synthsteak could have prevented more for a longer time, but for a simple artisan food with low filling, this is simply astounding. It kept me in the fight and helped give me the win.
Don't overlook this sleeper of a food. Its definately a life saver. I don't sell many at all nowdays, but I will continue to make it. I did a vendor search one day, and found that on my server (Radiant), Slingblade and I were the only chefs with it in stock. If the masses don't realize its value, that means there is more left over for me!
Enjoy.

Spread the word on Radiant, Rogue. I completely agree with ya on this subject, however a full run of synthsteak lasts about 5 days on my vendor and I still have the first run of exo-proteins wafers I made after the CU hit. Word is getting around, but just way too slow.

Yep its a great food. Even before the CU it was awesome. Many players overlook it since they are obessed with "buff numbers".
Dont be fooled this stuff will save you in a pinch and you can pop them like potato chips.

the way i explain it is, you get more than half the mitigation synthsteak gives, for more than three times as long for the same filling, using my own stats on synth and wafers anyway. love 'em love 'em.

I've been getting 27%/21 sec/5 fill/6 use on my Exos. Yay for an 1000 OQ/952 DRScaley spawn!

I've been using it in PvPing and for hunting BH marks for a while now and I have to say I love the stuff.
Friends and guildie have been encouraged to use it instead of synthsteak. Most people so far have loved the thing.
PS. Having a macro that lets you consume exo-protein wafter continiously is great, especially in a quick pvp fight.
