Just wanted to get The Chef's impressions on the new BE additives for foods. I know the old additives weren't generaly considered useful considering the costs. I don't have data on how effective these are yet, but what are people's thoughts on these based on the schematics? Here is the post I made on the BE board:

Chef additives

First off, all the schematics for the chef additives have an optional slot for "Secret research data." Not sure exactly what these will do, but from the information posted on the Chef board a while ago, these will be drops we'll use these to further enhance the additives when making them. Additives fall into three categories, light, medium, and heavy. There are four types of additive that, I gather, give a bonus to that line of experimentation for chefs - mass, flavor, nutritional and food replicating. I'm not quite sure which type affects which experimantation line yet.Replicatingdoes say it helps produce larger batches, and I assume mass determines how filling a food is. I assume Flavor and nutritional are effect and duration, but not sure which is which. Now the schematics (note - these are the current TC numbers and should not neccesarily be considered final) -

Thanks for the valuable info!.. I'll be sure to gather allot of domestic meat and I think you may be right on Mass affecting the filling.

Thanks for stopping by with the info, Talthazar!

As a user of micronutrient supplements and the soon to be extinct Systemic Cognitive Reformats, these schematics are scary. One oft-repeated request regarding BE supplements was that they require fewer resources, or at the least, require less in the way of creature organics. In this respect, micronutrients are unchanged, while the higher end supplements have increased requirements.

SCR's: 25 wild meat, 25 domesticated meat, 25 avian meat, and 20 organic. (75 meat)

Refined Alipedene: 25 reptilian meat, 25 cereal, 20 organic, 20 floral structural. (25 meat)

Enhanced Bio-Strength: 25 herbivore meat, 25 carnivore meat, 20 eggs, 20 organic. (50 meat, 25 eggs)

Meat is the primary limiting factor, as it is the highest cost resource to obtain.

Looking at the new additives, we see that we now only require two specific meats: domesticated and wild. While this is a nice simplification, it highlights a familiar issue for the many chefs who have made GGP in quantity:

Domesticated meat is the hardest meat in the game to obtain.

Some of the heavy additives require 120 total resources, which is more than most any food or drink. I haven't seen any reports yet on just how effective these additives are, but judging by the costs, they would need to have dramatic effects: reducing filling to 1/3 or 1/4, tripling effectiveness, or something along those lines. 85k quality meat for a full run? Daunting, at best.

According to the information available at this point in time, it seems the BE supplement concept has changed only in regards to effectiveness (although that still remains untested), not difficulty or cost to produce. An interesting decision.

Wow, fantastic post....

Reading between the lines a little, there doesn't seem to be a huge increase in resources needed between light and heavy additives. I'm guessing a Master BE would be pumping out the max additive that the particular food can take, there seems to be no reason not to. I would love to see the experimental ranges on these.

Also, I'm trying to predict the most useful ones to add to my food, and I'm stuck on nutrition (maybe flavor if the percentages are high enough). Nutrition ones seem to be the easiest to make...go figure.

Again, thanks a bunch for posting.

If I had to guess, I'd say "mass" is filling and "replicating" is quantity.

One thing I'd love to see is whether drinks can be done in barrel stack sizes using glasses and additives...

I ran a little experiment using some light BE tissues. You can find the results on my website (down on the bottom of the page).
