Thread: Why don't chefs prepare meals?

Not sure if this idea has been discussed before, but right now I have to wander around with maybe 20 creates of food for each eventuality, carefully checking stats before I eat anything to make sure there is no stat that conflicts.

What I would prefer is to PAY a chef to prepare a meal from a menu and just take that with me in warming up for battle.

This is all the food combined, meal schematics can be loot drops, and you can add x number of foods to a schematic to make a meal.

This obviously won't replace using single food items, but would be a great way of using all mods at once. i.e. PvP based meal, PvE meal, crafting meal, healing meal etc. I'd hope this would negate the issues with food stacking to as only the highest mod would count?

The boring alternative is I could use a macro to do the same, but heres the idea.

'A chef made meal woul denhance the duration of the buff effects if eaten within 3 hours of preparation'

Sort of like high end content offering for chef. Newer chef who reached master can earn cash by making bespoke meals up?

Never been a chef, but a big food user he he

I actually think that's a neat idea. Never thought of it before, and I can't recall ever seeing it here on the forums. I'd love to be able to prepare meals for people on the brink of battle. Since I'm not a PvPer, it'd give me a chance to sit out and enjoy the activity and craft meals on the spot for quick consumption, and it'd be a lot easier for the consumer instead of wading through an inventory of crates that look the same, and the ridiculous amounts of foods with the same canape artwork, lol.

What'd be really cool is if we could have portable resource carts. Load up all the resources we need for schematics (up to a reasonable number - 10 is not reasonable), and have a separate cart in our datapad that we could call to both retrieve our resources AND sell items from, a la the New York hot dog cart. Of course, that will never happen because people would be up in arms about chefs having "extra storage", but a girl can dream!

"Crafter's Delight! Get your piping hot Crafter's Delight, right here!"

On Sunrunner, Jedi Happy Meals have been introduced to the waiting public...I know that each Jedi has there own tried-and-tested combination of foods/drinks/spices they swear upon...However, these meals have been prepared for those new to the profession, or with combinations similar to what is being offered...Some of the food/drink/spice offered in the meal pack are as follows:

Bofa Treat

Blob Candy

Canape

Breathe of Heaven

Crispic

Booster Blue

Ruby Bliel

Spiced Tea

I understand that a good deal of the items above are from the artisan side of the food/drink realm, but a good chef would never shut the door on possibilities...These items aregathered in a backpack infactory crates of 5 units and sold for anywhere between 200K to 250K each...Some of the items may be substituted out/in by the designing chef to better customize meal packs...Just an idea for those looking for a new item to pass onto the population of your servers...Thank you.

I have 7 foods designed ot buff just about everything. I have added in some freebies (secret! shhh!) and have taken off 200k of the retail price if sold seperately. I sold 16m of these in a week to ten days. I am making 70 more....

I understand people can give you all the stuff etc etc, very clever and is great for people who want a quick fix. It's like saying 'I'd love a banana' and someone saying 'Here's a potato'. I'm talking about something in addition to what you have.

But the meals give longer duration buffs (when meals are still hot), can be prepared in camps or houses, take up 'less space' and don't have the issues of stacking similar mods which is problematic. It give chef involvement with live conflicts, more beneficial for players and function to give new chefs a role without having to spend a fortune on resources.

As for implementation, timers are now in game on items, lootable single use schematics exist, not sure about how the items would combine from crates, but then again I pay SOE to play this game, not design it.

Its diversifying your profession a little, like I said I'm no chef so doesn't really make much difference, but I would like to think there is someway of developing an existing dynamic to maintain the crafting element and increasing the social interaction with all classes. Lets stop people saying

'I've get a Jedi and a chef alt character' to

'I've got a ranger/chef/artisan character who can set up camp, feed troops, repair vehicles and power up weapons during the great GCW battles we are having on Hoth' ...well maybe one day

or

'My chef toon cooked up a celebration banquet last night after the PvP event. Everything was eaten, great music too, we all earned way more faction and an xp bonus for the next day?'

Increased interaction will lead to a stronger community, its the inter-dependance of crafting toons which was left out of the CU and so makes too clear the division between pure combat and crafting, not too many seriously dabble. Crafters need more function that to make things to replace loot drops, my idea was one in a series of ideas I have to reinforce the role of the crafting community.

Im working on these myself...and should be ready in the next couple of days.

I have packs for short term, high buff regens, and long term smaller regens as well as packs for defenses, crafting, scouts and medics.

The idea is that a customer who is into combat can stack the defensive and one of the two regen packs at the same time...but they don't have to if they feel they don't need it.

I have seen quite a few packs available on Chimaera, but I am trying to get a USP (unique selling point) by not having a 1size fits all aproach, and also having some packs for non combatants.

Aye I ahve thought of that. I have a unique selling point in my packs and I'd make a variety of them if i could but keeping stock levels of those and everythign else is so difficult that I can't be bothered!! Stocking 3 vendors is seriously hard work and I am permenatly out of stock. I'm startingto think they are too cheap as I sold almost all of my 20 that I made in 4-5 days.

hmmm...perhaps the 20 im making as a test wont be enough

It is a pain making up 20s of all these, as there is such a lead in time...

Perhaps the only way to do it is to make about 100 packs at a time, or something silly like that. The effort is not significantly more than 20-40 packs, and they would sell out a lot less quickly

Depends on your price. I suspect that mine are too cheap and I will be reviewing prices. I suspect that mine would sell with no discount. Its all well and good being the cheapest but you know our PvPers, they just want the best irrespective of price and if it means I don't sell out in under 5 days then I'll be happy. Oh and I am working on 70 or so....
