Hello-

I was a Chef on Starsider for many moons, and have been playing the game with two alts since startup. Well, I gave in to the irresistable lure of double XP (got the XP banked)and then recently finished myFS grind with mytoon with the switch to Phase 4 at the village. I had respec'ed my Chef to a Combat toon during the window (some time ago) to facilitate this FS grind.

Since I have now unlocked a slot, I want to have a chef again. I am a 12 pointer, with many quality resources on hand. I never really spammed, and spent much of the money I made (the whole point of money, right?)butstill topped out at 60 million cr or so.

My question is this. I will have no start up costs and will be a 12 pointer with good resources. The CU makes food less powerful, but seems to have increased the "per play session" usage of food.

This would lead me to believe that overall, retail food prices are down, but sales volume is up, meaning it's a wash. From a money making standpoint, what are the impression of chefs of the state of sales for the profession recently?

I have seen no drop in sales and still have my stuff priced the same from pre-CU. Only thing different now is that I have a ton of artisan foods I must craft and stock as they are good sellers. They take very few resources and require light additivesso the profit on those is much higher than the chef items.Still a good market for all foods and drinks and everyday I see new combos purchased off my vendor. Chef is not dead....just a little moreitems to craft now.

I see a definate increase in use of products as there is a food or drink for everyone now. Artisan foods seem to lean towards grinding and hunting and they are cheap so even the noobs can afford it where chef foods are more targeted towards pvp with high powers and short durations. Sure there are the poplular items that sell more often but it is no way near the way it was (Brandy, canape, and synthsteak..rinse,repeat). Those are still useful but so many new options and you must decide whichproduct helps you most at any given moment....andit will change almost everytime. No, chef is not dead....not by a longshot.
