I just recently got novice chef, and I have to ask you all, what is the best way to start making a profit with a chef? Do I have to master it to get the best results from my food? What should I start doing, cause in order to grind to master it will cost me over 1 mil credits, and I dont have that sprt of money to just throw out.

There may be some sellable foods if you have xxx2 or higher chef. At novice I kind of doubt anything is very sellable just because you can't make much at those levels and with only 1(maybe 2?) exp point, the stats are going to be pretty low.

I am not saying it will be easy to sell stuff even at that level though. Sythsteak comes to mind for a low level food. There are probably others but most of what I make is at least in tier 3.

You say it would cost 1 million credits to grind your way up. I would assume that is because you would need to buy the resources. If you don't mind going a little slower just buy yourself some personal harvestors and harvest the materials yourself(I'm assuming you don't have medium or heavy harvs available). If you harvest your own energy you can easily get the resources for .2-.4 cpu so maybe 200k to get all the resources you need for the grind. Even if you don't harvest your own energy you would be under 1 cpu very easily.

I have the money to buy harvesters and start using them, but I want to know if I should progress through the entrire chef tree or if there is a point in which I could stop and sell, such as at drinks 3, with the ability to produce the popular vasarian brandy.
I guess what I really need to know is what foods are popular.

invest in some heavy floras...use what you harvest to grind chef.......chef is not one of those professions where you can get good benifits out of doing it half way.... master it.. then you'll make some $$

I feel your pain, I have been a Master Chef for about two weeks now, and I still am struggling to make ends meet. Just making sales right now is hard enough without all the skill tapes to boost enhancements, and the outrageous costs for BE products. It cost me probably a couple of million so far just in maintenance, an apron, some crafting tools, a station, factories, and harvestors, now i am trying to make the best I can with the resources I can harvest.

Its a tight market, your either good, or broke. I am such a nOOb to crafting though, I still can see how 2 extra experiments could get my 641 canape up to the 750+ that some chefs are selling. I gots a lot to learn.

Honestly, if it wasn't for my guildmates, I think i would have given up--get some friends, at least one who has some crafting experience to explain the in's and out's if you are not sure what to do.

Good Luck, and if ya cant sell it, at least ya can eat it!

Personally I levelled up to 0-0-3-4 and started to crank out Brandy with my 9 experimentation points. It sold pretty well in the beginning when the great rush to get Brandy was still going. Now that everyone is stocked with crates lasting for months and that we relocated to Lok sales are much, much slower.

I slowly ground my way up the other trees (Synthsteaks are a reliable seller, too) and am now finally a Master Chef (with my alt that is ). It *is* possible to earn money bar Master.
