I am a new chef on intrepid, also pursuing BE. My question is what resources and how much of those resources should i stock pile? I will be purchasing mostly to begin with and have a few vendors as a reliable sources. I will simply, when ready to make my own, limit to producing only a few popular foods. But i need to build a basic supply of resources and here is where i am seeking the advice to which ones to gather/purchase and amounts i should be building. In the interim, will be seeking skill tapes to improve what i can make, and i know that will take time and credits. Please, if all those long time chefs in this beautiful art could see to helping guide me, i would appreciate your wisdom and experience. Respectfully Icao on intrepid server.

BE enhancements are an incredible resource hog, it takes 90k of organic/flora + 20k of meat to make Intelligent Nanonutrients. I use the following formula to evaluate BE sources 0.50*OQ + 0.30*PE + 0.20*FL. You can use wood for the organic portion of the BE enhancements which only has an OQ component. If you find a good BE enhancement resource get as much as you possible can; you just can't have enough.

For evaluating chef resources I use sciguyCO's 0.16*DR + 0.22*FL + 0.26*OQ + 0.35*PE nutrition weighted formula. A chef requires too many resources to name here but berries and fruit are by far the most important.

One other thing, I don't think I could stay in business if I didn't harvest all of my flora resources. Buying them just seems like it would be too expensive.

Definitely at least consider harvesting your own resources. It's a very rare resource vendor that will cover everything you might need, and even if they do have the resources, they may have just pulled up whatever happened to spawn under their harvesters, so the quality will be suspect.

Bookmark swgcraft.com if you haven't already. Put the percentages MilkToast listed into the stat boxes on the find page, select your server, "Flora Food" for the category, and maybe a planet. Look for resources rated 700 and above, with a PE greater than 750. Any qualifying fruit (berries, fruits, or flowers) shoudl probably be jumped on, most vegetables, and wheat or oats.

You can do the same thing with meat, but unless you've got scout and combat skills, that'd be more for contracting out hunting. If your servergets a good spawn of Dathomir Carnivore meat you should be able to get some pretty large stacks from Rancor hunting parties.

You be right too, I can't see myself always buying resources, good fruit and berries thata ren't currently in shift can go as high as 10-20 cpu, I paid 2 mil just for 100k of some nice berries. mind you starsider hardly ever gets good stuff and I was eager to start as a chef, but now my resources are trickling in slowly.. so yes start with fruit, and berries, high oq and pe. Also doesn't hurt to keep low quality wheat for making dough and alcohol.

I would like to thank you to those that have responded here. This is the kind of input that I needed and will heed your wise words of wisdom. If anyone else has anything to add, i will look forward to reading and learning more. Grinding for chef was a long haul and I hope it pays off in the long run, not only in building my chef business but as any new venture meeting and getting to know other chefs would be nice and being able to discuss problems and seeking advice. Almost daily I make it a point and read the posting here and printing out various information. So please add to this post when you can. Respectfully Icao.

My advice in harvesting would be to only harvest quality resources. I do sometimes move them onto crap wheat or dough or other components but I've found it fairly easy to buy these. 2-3cpu isn't uncommon.

Crap resources will always be available. Good ones rarely are.
