I think it looks like lots of fun to be chef. Any1 wanna tell me how an average day looks for a chef?

Survey for resources, run factory loads of food, put food for sale on vendors. Field tons of tells from people asking why you don't have xyz food. Inform tons of people to hit "next items" to see page 2 of inventory on vendor. Search bazaar for super deals on milk, meat, hide, bone! Get to bed early because you must start the next run of pastries at 3am.

Cami covered quite a bit. My general day looks like this;

  • Log in, scan through emails for vendor sales (or lack of them ), determine whether stock is running low on anything.

  • Check swgcraft.com for any new flora spawns, or if anything my harvesters are pulling up has despawned. After the Droids Rebuilt publish, I've also been using the survey droids to double check despawns, especially on adventure planets (which have longer lag with resource updates, especially for flora).

  • Restock vendors. Stash a few "advertising" single stacks on the bazaar (mid-quality food/drink with vendor waypoints in the description).

  • Ingredients management: survey for any new good spawns, check resource vendors and bazaar (especially for meat/hide/milk), track down new sources for BE tissues (or hit known vendors), may do a factory run of some subcomponents if needed. Every week or so, unless I've purchased a stack, I run piket missions on Dantooine for a while to harvest milk.

  • During travels, kill a few things and harvest meat/hide/bones to check for any good creature spawns.

  • Chat with customers, see if there's any hot new food, explain how some foods work, etc.

That's about all my chef-specific stuff, althoughI'm also working on getting pistoleer for the holocron, hitting new POIs, generally chatting with players, etc.

Thanks Sciguy! Most of my runs include harvestor checking, making new foods, factory runs and such. Never came to my mind to do the "advertising" sample in the bazaar Gave me a great idea in spreading my shop's reputation. Thanks again.

I make a slow and steady income with my chef profession. I'm not really making a whole gripload of sales like other chefs in my server do but I do get sales occassionally. I'm really enjoying trying to get my product as high as the others, which gives me more satisfaction than anything

Price according you your server, I use the price guild listed in the FAQ (I wrote it)

I have vendors in ... anchorhead, coronet, and near mos entha (archmesa on our server)

I average 50-75 sales per day

I average 5-7 million a week

I spend 4 hours a day running my chef business ( as per the comments above)

I spend 200k - 1mil a day buying resources

but..I have fun, and that is what matters

I make a lot of money, my sales exceed 1 million every 2 days, the downside is I think i am not charging enough for my stock. Admittedly I am very new to being a chef, my shop has only been open for a short while..less than a month but my stock gets cleaned out regularly. I sell 411+ brandy for 41 minutes, 18 charges at 200k a crate (could get higher power but would have to use berries with lower flavor and oq) think my canapes are 760+ for 10 mins, those sell for 160k a crate, thinking of raising prices. I also have other assorted foods such as ahisra that don't sell at all (customer ignorance maybe, I think it's better than canapes)

The key for me in turning profit is having a guild that supplies lots of meat for bio tissues, in exchange for them getting a case of brandy or canapes here and there. The bulk of chef prices are always in the bio tissues, I can not emphasize enough the importance of gathering your own meat...50k for ONE crate of good intelligent nanonutrients...bleh.. it may be tedious harvesting but you'll thank yourself when you make more profit off your sales.

Omg 50k for 1 crate of intelligent nanonutritients. Bio engineers are so lazy these days. I sell mine for 25k/crate (and I thought I was overcharging) maybe should try to sell them for 30k/crate.

flora is almost free to harvest.
meat can be bought for 6cpu and still not too bad quality.
I'm not sure but the to make one intelligent nanonutritient would be like 500 creds. 2k-500 = 1500 creds /tissue . that's a scam IMO.

This is fine for the small scale chef who doesn't care a lot about quality. But to get the really good IN's (117-118 power) you have to use very good meat and insanely good flora. And you go through a LOT of it.

Even with all my factories on friends' lots, I only have 5 lots free to harvest. There's no way I can gather enough flora to make food AND make bio-additives. So I buy most of my resources. Good flora average about 10 cpu on my server. And as for the meat, the good stuff goes for 30 cpu and up. So now you're talking about 1500 credits just to make that tissue that sells for 2k. That's a fair profit in my book.

(Yes, I have friends and guildies harvest meat for me, but that just takes care of my supply problem. I pay them market rate for what they get. I see no reason why they should work tosupply me for free or cheap just so I can increase my profits, when they could easily make a fortune selling the same stuff on the open market.)

I'd buy all my supplements if I could. Gathering the material is just a pain, and making them ties up the factories for days. But there aren't anywhere near enough BE's in the galaxy making and selling them. So I buy them whenever I can, and when I can't, I gather the resources myself and hire BE's to make schematics. That takes up way too much time, and I'd rather have free time than more money. If a BE moved into my town and started pumping out high quality supplements, I would buy them all and make them very rich.
