Thread: Trim from a factory crate?

I am a new chef, and I have a question about making casks.

It seems like most chefs make crates of brandy with 18 uses. I've read some arguements that some use large glasses instead, which generates more repeat business, as customers run out faster. But anyway...

This is my first attempt at making casks, and while out shopping I found a crate of trim for 50K. The crate
has 25 uses, and each cask takes 2 trim. That price seems really steep to me. Does each piece of trim have more than 1 use or something? Or is this vendor just way overpriced?

50K!! There having a laugh aren't they? That's about 49k more than I'd pay for a crate of trim, that's beyond overpriced, it's insane.
Consider this, you buy it then use it to make casks for brandy, that's a total of 12 casks, means that 4k from every brandy you produce goes towards the costs of trims for a cask. Considering that people sell 18-use Brandy on the bazaar for 6k a piece your not going to be making much at all.

Find a local tailor and ask them to give you a price on a few crates. The trims take 5 units of inert petrochems and 20 units of fiberplast, as quality is no factor, you should expect to pay between 500 - 1000 per crate of 25. If you have access to a clothing factory and are able to harvest fiberplast and inert petrochems (even personal harvesters can harvest sufficient amounts) then ask your tailor to produce a schematic from materials you give them (they should do it for free, although a tip is generous to give them for their help). This way you can produce them yourself from your own materials, which in the long run is cheaper if you consider making a lot of items.

Hope this helps you out.

On most servers you'll be hard pressed to find crates of trim at 500-1000 unless it's a guildmate or friend making it. The more usual price is going to run somewhere around 2000-2500 per crate.

Yup, best to make friends with a tailor, offering them some free food may help the negotiations with the prices. In terms of actual value there worth 500 - 1000 credits, but tailors are normally busyand don't want to use their factoriesmaking trims as there wasting time they could be making money with (the reason you don't see them for sale or a a high price). If you want to go into making them yourself (best choice if your serious about making things)I can sell you a clothing factory for a discount at 20k if you mail me. I can also put you in contact with a few tailors who will make you a schematic.

I made a deal with a tailor @ 5K per crate. Not the best, but a whole lot better than 50K!

Thanks for the help guys. As for harvesting...there is someone in my guild who just LOVES to survey and harvest. It's disturbing, I know. I can get just about any grind quality resource for 1cpu, and he generally stocks just about everything. I already made a deal with that tailor for 10 crates, but in the future I will try to get a schematic made.

I'd get in touch with the tailor, that has to have an extra zero in it. Unless the Tarquinas economy is seriously inflated...

Trim prices mostlyrange from 1k per crate (generally requiring being buddy-buddy with the tailor) to 5k per crate. 2-3k seems the most common on my server.

Since it seems most of you are getting screwed on trim prices I have an offer for anyone needing trim on my server (corbantis) Bring me the components and ill make a schem for trim free of charge. Theres no experimentation required and it takes all of 10 seconds to make a schem. Any junk resources work and the prices of schems and crates of trim seem to be getting ridiculous. That said if you need a schem send me an email and we can hook up and get you a schem.

I have never seen trim that expensive on Tarq,I usually see prices around 3000 - 4500 for a crate of 25. I bought some recently from a vendor in the city of Shadowrealm which is on Naboo. I cant remember the exact price butI believe it was about 2900 per crate. Hope this helps.

I have never seen, when dealing directly with a tailor that i did or did not know, or visiting a vendor, a crate of trims priced any different then 2500 credits. Maybe it's a deal they all made, or perhaps it's just what they feel is fair. I have considered getting my own resources and a clothing factory, not because I find the price unfair but because I often find it hard to find trim when I need it, and I am a very impatient person. 2500/crate is only what, 4cpu? Thats a whole hell of a lot less then what I sell for, and I'm more then happy to pay it.

Since trim can be made out of the crappiest components, and the profit margin is so low, my tailor usually just makes schematics for me for free cause she makes way more just selling me clothes lol.

As I have some crates spare, If you visit the <RenEv> merchant tent in ShadowRealm on Naboo (right next to the shuttleport) and I'll have some up on my vendor for 2k a crate. My vendor is called "Havoc's food 'n' drink" and is dressed in chef clothes.
