Guildmate looted me +8 Food Assembly pants. I know they will definitely help me in creating food, but in what ways? Less chance of a fail? Better experimenting?

It affects the initial roll of the item...critical failure is less likely, great/amazing success more likely on the INITIAL CRAFT. It won't affect experimenation.
