. . . see SOE breaking a fine profession as Chef. I loved your products, and now it's bye-bye to the best buffs you have.
I'm a doctor and if it's any cosolation to you, they will be on their way to breaking my professionfairly soon. I'm certain of that. Our buffs help make the game fun too. We all have to wait in line to get the fun drained out of the game by SOE. I have to hand it to them, they are very good at doing that.

Which is what is giving me some hope. The people on the test center (including me) are a lot more happier with the buffs than those who are just reading the numbers.

The people on Test Center at the moment, before character copy goes in, are in general more from the fanboi corner than from the informed consumer corner, so I wouldn't read too much in it.

Wow what an oxymoron, the people on TC are not informed, rather fan boys...? How is that so? The people on TC are seeing the numbers first hand, they are the informed people, and if it were not for them, people like you and me would not be informed of the changes. Show a little gratitude. And you are not informed. Read a little more, cause Im sure Ezran, SciGuy, and SV are tired of telling people that they are USING CRAPPY RESOURCES AND NO BE COMPONENTS!

How is it unreasonable to assume that people who go through great hardships to test things on Test Center are very invested in the game, and so even more in the fanboy corner than the already self-selected SWG customer base, which mostly consists of Star Wars fans? To me this is simply a logical conclusion, but then again I'm not emotionally involved one way or another.
What I'm saying is that as Test Center will be more and more focused on testing, and becomes less a hangout for a certain group of people, this will change and the new population will on average be able to be more objective (closer to the ordinary customer) in their feedback.

There is nothing fan boy about concrete evidence. They gave numbers along with stats of the resources they used. Everyone has made conclusions about the numbers, but the fact remains that they have repeadetly stated that they used low stat resources and no BE enhancements, still the food/drinks are pretty **edit** good for such low stat foods.
Here is where opinion comes in:
I am assuming that food stats will be a huge benefit to food as current food is. So that those foods will be greatly improved using our personal floral stock. They (TC chefs) also gave their personal idea as to how the food will look on live. They have all given, their pros and cons about the patch. Calling them fanboys is not fair. Most of them are out there testing and barely have as much time to play their characters on their live servers. A fanboy supports everything they do whether good or bad, and they in no way have done this. Even the correspondent who is the closest thing we have to SOE support (save a few messages from TH) has given complaints that bother him about the patch, in no way blindly following SOEs every decision.

Mikeal, does being a "chef fanboy" count for or against your argument?
I got onto Testcenter to grab as much information about the revamp as I could to spread to the chef communityas a whole. Since this was going to be a major change in our menu, I figured the more people gathering info the better. From the crafting side, I saw a lot of things that I liked a lot: the experimental percentages now correspond with reality (that 33/33/33 PE/Flavor/OQ was complete bunk), required resources are easier to get (well, except for T'illa T'ill, and its effect may or may not be worth it), the variety of effects are greatly increased, and fewer recipes get eclipsed by higher-level items so non-Masters have sellable wares.
Now, I haven't had much experience with the usage side of food, so I've tried to keep out of those arguments. My main character has some fencer skills, but the highest level creatures I've gone after were probably giant peko-pekos. Leaving out the BE additives, it's pretty obvious that the maximum buffs available are going to be lower than what you could get pre-patch. I think the intention of the devs is to make chefs less effective than doctors, dancers, and musicians at buffing stats, but with the benefits of portability. The problem I see with this is the relative rarity of dancers/musicians, and I'm not sure if the lowered effectiveness of food is going to increase demand for at-keyboard entertainers enough to get past the current afk-heavy entertainer population.

Is it just me, but the revamped foods seem A LOT better than the current ones. Vassarian Brandy owns Vangerian in my mind, as the +focus and +willpower outweigh the raw mind bonus. Plus there are so many more skill mod foods which should be awesome. I don't know about you but I'm seriously hyped about the new foods.

Bringing Doctors buffs down to a reasonable level isn't breaking the profession, it's fixing it.
Same as what they are doing to Chef. They're fixing Chef, not nerfing/breaking them. We were overpowered before, now we're unique and useful. (of course, we were useful before, but in a overpowered way
)
