Thread: Should I use up my food adds?

Hi fellow chefs
I just made quite a few runs of food adds.
After the CU II BE's will be gone so food adds might become useless too.
Should I just use em all up in food and hope the food stats convert nice
or should I just keep em stocked?
Greetings Oroku

Very good question as I did the same thing. As soon as someone can confirm fromtestcenter, we would greatly appreciate any info on this matter.

Just FYI, Guruweaver posted this over in his "Trader in NGE" post:

Yes, there was the standard enhancement slot, just like on live now.

So the additive slot still exists (although I'm not sure if he got far enough to get the actual light additive schem). And who knows where the tissues themselves are going to be coming from.

And with the "locking in" of templates, cross-prof components are going to actually require dealing with other players. No more Chef + BE to be self-sufficient...

Oh, one other piece of info: creature resources are no longer "harvested", they're looted from the creature killed. From Guru's posts, it sounds like the resource type is random (the equivalent of just doing "/harvest" instead of "/harvest bone"). But since it looks like resource gathering is going to be available to all combat players (not just ones with Scout), it may be a wash as far as total resources accumulated.

Hmm. Well, if I could login, I'd be all over this. Unfortunately....

A couple possibilities:

1) Guru was mistaken.

2) The version Guru was looking at still had the old recipes, which were updated between when he played and the current version on Testcenter.

3) Enhancers are included, but only in higher-level foods. Or maybe tied to your crafting level (low-level crafters get one recipe, higher level gets the option for the enhancers).

I know that tailors are also a little nervous about the loss of BE tissues. If they were going to show up anywhere, my money would probably be within Medic. But I'll be keeping an eye on things and let you know whatever I find.

I'm unsure where I read it, but I was in the trader forum and I'm sure I saw that spiced tea had no slot for enhancers. Again, I may be mistaken and have not been able to get into TC to test this myself

i was in TC and testing trader/domestic. i got several 'boxes' worth of exp and earned new schematics. the ones after spiced tea and meat jerky do indeed have an additive slot. *everybody* gets the spiced tea and meat jerky schemas (even jedi), i guess they want everybody to have a teensy bit of everything, like how we traders can auto-attack. but for the food/drink after those first two, yes the additive slot is still in the schematic.

What we need to know is if these additives still need BE tissues to make.

Light + medium additives are definitely in the skill tree. The master skill boxes appear to be missing for all profs at the moment, so none of that is around.

My stance on this is not craft anything until NGE goes live. If the additives are still useful, great, you have them. If not, you don't waste the resources on crafting food that may or may not be useful at that time.

I suggest clearing your current inventory of crafted foods. Conserve your resources (especially creature...Meat) as the new harvesting situation may make it more difficult to come by.

In a greater context, most of the economy has slowed...people aren't spending like they used to. Everyone is waiting "to see what will happen"

I have seen, however, a strong increase in demand for grinding foods...people trying to level up to CL 80 or to complete the FS grind. If you do craft, I would concentrate in that area.

QFE. hides and meat became easier to get in quantity postCU. from what i've seen on TC so far, they'll now be worse than they were preCU.
