Thread: DEV: Things to Make My Martha Stewart Life Easier
Hello,
I generally don't read these forums, don't know why, used to love the Shadowbane ones. More political over there though. So if this mis mash has already been said, fergive meh.
1. /giveItem Command: There appears to be a /giveitem command, but it generally just says, "Do not have permission to open that container" no matter how I rub it and flex it, and try to get it to work. An easy way to give drinks/food to people minus the Trade Window would make life easier. In the same manner as tipping.
If ure worried about people abusing it and flooding peoples inventories with stuff, you could just make it so that people that are on ignore, can't give you anything either. Or make it so that you can only give someone something every minute, or so.
Heck, it could just be an option on the options menu, to whether a person will accept random gives or not.
2. Food/Category: Of Course, and I don't know why this wasn't implemented to begin with, give food it's own category on the Bazzaar. I mean, Why Not? Can someone in the know please explain to me why it doesn't have it's own category? No sense at all. As a chef I know I'm less important than other chars, less liked, and less powerful, butto have my wares posted under Misc with fishing poles and TRAVEL TICKETS (is there someone making a profit on travel tickets?) is a bit much. You wouldn't add a class called, straight up, "Star Craft Maker" and make them spend hours andhours working on ships and what not, and then have ships listed under the Misc section would you?
3. Suggested Retail Price/ Price per Unit: This one is a bit fanciful, but adding something to the Bazzaar to let you know how much you were paying per unit would be awesome, and take away some un-needed mental math, something I'm not good at. A plus to having such a feature, would be something on the crafting screen or item info, that lets you know how much you actually paid to make the item.
For instance, making some Air Cake, I use Dough (I think 10 Wheat), Carbo Syrup (6 Fruit), both manufactured seperately, plus the ingredients for the cake (some more Wheat, and something else.) I can, and do add these up, try to remember what I paid for the ingredients, and what not, and then seta fair price, but it would simplify life if there was a number there for me to see. i.e. It cost you 200 creds to make this Item, or some such.
The info could be on the item itself, with all that other stuff, so people, newbs, ME, would be able to see how much of a profit the other fellow is trying to make, and what not.
Anyways:
None of the things mentioned serve to over-power anyone, and can be used by just about everyone. None of them seem like they would be difficult to implement as well (not that I would know, two years in C++ ain't much these days. Well, maybe the Price per unit thing, extra info being savedfor EVERY ITEM might nix that one, but I digress). They would, however, make life funner, and easier for ME, and that's all I'm really worried about. Sure, there is prolly some other chefs out there, but I'm the best one, so who cares about them? ![]()
On top of all things said, there is obviously all the things mentioned here to fore on this forum, that I haven't read, hopefully some people saying the same things I have. Not everyone wants to be a chef, but some do, and anyone that actually wants to spend hours and hours getting resources to make food for people that don't even want it, and actually keep doing it despite not having the things they want, are exactly the kind of gamers you want to hook. So hook them.
