Thread: HELP: The grind from Novice Chef to first tier
Does anyone have a good approach to this? Right now I'm selling Starshine Surprises, Bofa Treats, and Chardes at my shop. Chardes is the only thing that I'm selling from the Novice Chef menu.
Here's the problem, 38,000xp to get the first box? Anyone have any suggestions on strategy here? That's a looong way considering most foods only give 20 to 50 xp per craft.
Thanks.
I got a military back pack off a Tailor Contact I have made for cheap (cause I'm the bartender lol), and its fantastic, lets me keep my finished food products seperate from my resources (easier on trading), and it greatly extended my capacity so I'm not constantly trying to get rid of my goods at the cantina or on the bazaar. I highly recommend it if you dont have a house or anything.
I support 8 flora harvesters and a factory by running missions, and I've taken up armorsmith, which I'm going to use to use for money from now on. At 18K a set of mabari, I can run all my harvesters for a couple of days and afford training as well as occasional outings to places like dathomir and lok(also pistoleer).
I have 6 of the flora harvesters on cereal and 2 on fruits, and whenever I get enough to start a 100 piece factory run I get the factory going. While the factory's grinding away on wastril bread(which I give out free to PA members in crates of 25, since its pretty worthless for selling with the factory stack bug) I generally run missions or sit around sampling within 2km of the factory(you only get exp from factory within 2km). Like this I stay busy all the time, and can get a chef slot once every 3 days or so... It should speed up significantly once the PA architects can get me a couple of large harvesters.
I dont bother with person to person trades of food, because uxp is nearly broken, sales take a long time to make good amounts of, and I can make much more money and xp in my side profession(pistoleer) in the time taken.
Finally, this method takes a lot of playtime... you have to stay online while the factory is running. I play about 12+ hours a day(though it could be done in 6 if you organize yourself, which spoils a lot of fun)
Yep. Posted on this a little while ago.
I've been pretty much doing the same - sales of Starshine and Ruby Bliels mostly to keep the local customers supplied and happy, but grinding Wastril Bread in my "spare time" to try to hit the next level of Chef. I think I calculated somewhere in the range of 16k worth of grains and 5k of fruit to get the needed xp.
What really needs to happen, I think, is a flip-flop of crafted items. Drop Chard down to where Ruby Bliel is, moveRuby Bliels up to Domestic IV, and Starshine up to Novice Chef. It's a bit more of a realistic progression at that point. Instead now the Novice Chef items are relatively weak, much more difficult to sell, and you end up doing A LOT of produce and destroy to get to the higher levels.
Progression past Novice Chef seems pretty slow. Although, the more I look at it the more I'm starting to think that's not particularily a bad thing, but it would just be nice if we were rewarded for reaching Novice Chef rather than penalized.
It's the staggering amount of resources that we need for the next skill boxthat'skind of scary to me. In particular considering Chef's don't make the gobs of cash other professions make.
