What do you other chefs look for in ingredients and what do you consider to be the most important?
Overall Quality, Nutritional Value, Flavor or Decay?
opinions on how this affects your food crafting say with things of high quality but low nutrition and the amount of buffs it give

If you look closely at the schemetatic, there it lists what percent each quality affects the item. A high OQ doesn't neccessarily mean a high quality item if Potential Engery is 60%, Flavor 30% and Overall Quality 10% for the given item.
Example: Berry 1 PE 300 Flav 600 OQ 900 = score 450
Berry 2 PE 900 Flav 600 OQ 300 = score 750
Even though the OQ on berry 2 is far lower than berry 1, for the given schematic, berry 2 is best item to use.

JaBeh explained it very well already. I just wanted to say I love the complexity of the crafting system!

Does decay do anything for chefs? I don't think I've seen an item with the decay stat listed as a percentage for food or drinks.

I would also like to note that sometime you may not want to use the best overall item. If you are looking for make something with an obscene buff, then in my example, if you found something in the 950+ range for flavor, then the rest of the stats be **edit**. You many not get a great duration or a large quantity of them, but people tend to look at the buff and not how much they are getting.

What are the benefits to flavor? When I'm experimenting I tend to notice that flavor doesn't seem to increase any of the buffs on the item. Nutritional value and quantity obviously improve the stats of the item when you successfully experiment with them, but flavor doesn't seem to do a thing. Am I missing something?
