Thread: chef isn't currently an area in which SOE/lucasarts will lose many customers, so we're screwed

There's few chefs playing. It's obvious the dev's have decided that they can neglect the tons of issues in the chef profession, and have been avoiding this board, since they might lose at most 200-500 players out of a couple of hundred thousand to it being a major issue.

The devs haven't made a single post here apart from the chef correspondent post which was pure routine. There's probably no point complaining about it in this board. Make the issues clear in boards the devs actually ever read. So long as they can just ignore us they wont care.

If the devs ever do decide to read this board I'm sure this post will be promptly deleted...

We should all get cardboard signs that read "Will make food for food."

Lol Hoggle.

To be honest though, if your read various profession boards, half of them seen to be full of complaints about being gimped. Commando, Merchant, Chef, etc etc ... everyone's underpowered except Creature Handler

I've had a few orders for food, but I haven't started really advertising, because I only have Entrees 1. Most of my orders are for foods in the Artisan tier.

I have one CH that looooves to order hundreds of bofa treats for his pet

J2XC, I think its more like 20 to 50 lol. But anyways I kind of like that its work to master the elite profession, I see so many other people who have mastered professions but then I think that profession is really stupid if you could master it that quicky, I guess the work gives you more pride in what you do and makes you more unique than most of the cookie cutter (pun intended) characters our there, however I do think it is a bit tooo slow. I also think there should be more models for the food, some people must think I'm making the same thing over and over again just naming it differently. I have experience in 3d Modeling and Animation, so if dev's want me to come up with a few models, I could donate some time into it.

I'm not actually complaining about the xp itself. It definitely is very tough, but I definitely get a sense of grim satisfaction every time I get a skill box.

My main problem is that a) We're severely disadvantaged to other professions with extremely similar items. We should be the best at making buffs since its the only thing we do. Smugglers and doctorshave lots of other things they're capable of. b) I'm not going to grind out every single piece of wastril bread manually, so I use a factory. Just one problem. Factory stacks dont work. Bloody wonderful. So I'm getting one third the food, so I have to cut my prices further, and I'm selling at a huge loss. To make up this loss I run missions andhave taken up the armorsmith profession. I doubt this was the devs intention. c) If its true thatmedium and large flora installations cant be built, then that too.

Even fixingb) and c) would go a long way to making me happier. The current stat buffsmay not be great, but we dont have any after-effects, and with enough grinding of cooking we can experiment most stuff to a few hundredbuff(still rarely anything as good as smugglers though)

So CH pets can eat our food? Cool...I'll have to start contacting some of them on our server...what foods are good to feed the pets?

Well....gotta disagree.

First off, it is not just the chef class that is messed up, and we are not the only ones being ignored. The devs are pretty much ignoring everybody.

The merchant class is even more messed up than we are. Almost nothing of their is working....advertising on the bazaar is messed up, vendors are extremely bugged, I haven't seen anybody put themselves on the map yet....so the merchant class is screwed.

The Bio-engineer class is screwed up...and this is the only one the developers have acknowledged.

The brawler class is screwed up, and creature handler needs a lot of attention to.

It is not just us that is screwed up, and it is not just us. And the developers are pretty much ignoring everybody.

Knowing Holocron, he won't just ignore us. Buffs are an important part of the game, and he knows it. But, apparently, he is busy with other things right now to pay attention to ANY profession.

But, aparently, we don't get UXP from it.

Creature handlers are currently very overpowerred, and I'm having no problems with my secondary trade as a merchant. In fact, with no effort put in, I'm advancing the merchant tree faster than my chef tree, and in a few days I'll be running a planetary ad campaign too.

Brawlers have a problem in that they get easily killed against large mobs, so group hunting isn't an option for them, and bio-engineer seems pretty ok to me, as our PA's BE can make pets and is able to make skill enhancing components. Their uxp also works properly.

The one job I will acknowledge of as equally screwed as chef is commando(and this only applies to certain servers) as the resources to make their weapons haven't appearred(Lowca hasn't had asingle change since the game went live).

I'm not sure if we get xp from creatures eating food. But they're a better disposal method of extra food(from factories) then destroying the food.

I generally give out factory crates of wastril bread daily to all the PA's creature handlers, and they're all very happy for it
