Ok - Sorry I hit the button way too fast there

I was working on chef prior to the patch. I had a nice macro for grinding out ithorian mist, but now it is a pain in the arse with the additional components. Has anyone messed around with the new foods to find a good one for grinding? I want to get to master so I can make some decent foods.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Personally I am grinding synthsteak for the following reasons:

1. Have a pile of cr@p hides too poor for my other profession (armorsmith);

2. Only takes cereal, vegetables and hide in (I think) a 20-20-5 ratio (a little hide goes a long way);

3. The damage reduction buff is one my guildmates like, so I give them the stuff rather than "practicing" on all of it (I hate wasting food!);

4. I like the Iron Chef title and figured everyone else was doing drinks - I like to be different!

The other suggestion (from Kriles if I remember right) was pastebread from desserts 1. Takes water and (I think) wheat and oats.

Happy grinding!

I just ground my last two boxes last night to master chef. I did the swirl dessert from Desserts 3. @240 xp per item. Saved me like an hour of grinding.

My factory has already made me 300 bottles, and I had500 alchohol,so I plan to keep grinding the good ol' Ithorian Mist. With a factory, grinding is easier. Otherwise, I'd do one of the bread things the others suggested.

Hey Buugli any idea what kind of XP you get for doing the synthsteak or the pastebread?

Thanks!

SciGuyCo's new FAQ lists the xp for the top grinding items. Should be stickied at the top.

ahh got it.

What gives the best xp?

Novice Chef: Soypro, 10 cereal, 10 vegetable, 80 xp (84 in practice mode).

Desserts I: Pastebread, 20 wheat, 10 oats, 10 water, 160 xp (168 in practice mode).

Entrees I: Synthsteak: 20 vegetables, 20 cereal, 5 hide, 180 xp (189 in practice mode)

Desserts III: Kiwik Clusjo Swirl: 40 berries, 20 fruits, 20 water, 260 xp (278 in practice mode)

One trick to get faster xp at Novice is to actually create the soypro (don't use practice mode), then after you've made up a bunch, eat them all. Soypro is a component, so it has 0 filling, and you get UXP for eating the last dose of your own food. So instead of getting 84 xp by grinding in practice mode, you'll get 120 by crafting and eating it.

not so sure on getting uxp for eating your own food.. I've heard some conflicting reports a long time ago about this. I know you get uxp if others eat your food though.

I would also like to add my thanks to Dr. Woobie! That was exactly what I was hoping someone would post. Now I just need to get home from work and do some grinding!

Yes, thanks. I am only 0-0-3-0, and need to grind the rest.

Unfortunately, I still have a TON of corn that I harvested to grind chef. And no berries or oats.... will take me a while to stockpile the new resources...... anyone want to trade some corn for berries/oats on Flurry?

Anything that uses corn, wheat, water in large quantities?

BTW - Was so diapointed that glasses don't give food xp (even tho I can make with food/chem tool), I thought I could stockpile gemstone.

I should also point out that previously Ithorian Mist gave you 178 experience. Now you have 240.

Actually, nothing specifically requires corn anymore, so you're going to be using that up in cereal slots. If the quality is crap, it'll make good alcohol stock (since component quality doesn't matter anymore).
