Chef Archive

Hello....was sitting around the cantina with my "novice chef" tag on and someone asked me what it was like being a chef. I had to say that I didn't really know since I just got the tag amd was XP grinding a little and setting up my flora farms..and etc...

anyhoo one guy made a comment that everyone was laughing at chefs, and another said that chefs were the next 'nerf'. Umm....nerf? I guess either I don't understand the term 'nerf' or I'm underestimating the chef. I thought nerf meant something like 'handicap' or in the politically correct lingo 'balance'. What is there to nerf about chefs?? We have buffs, but not great buffs, and only short duration, right? Am I just underestimating our abilities cuz I'm a new chef and I might be...help? Why are people laughing and why should we be nerfed? shouldn't we get a boost instead?

An aside: so why did I pick chef then if I think we're subpar? I just think it's cool to be able to make food craft things from a recipe. I think it lends to roleplaying a bit. I like to cook in real life and this sorta rounds out my character. He's mainly a fencer/carbineer and carries a big ryyk blade. I call it my kitchen knife, or carving cleaver. I've scout skills as well and love nothing better than hunting big game for my recipes....like Jawa beer.

Chef currently doesnt even work right so dont worry about any nerfs

if we do(hopefully not) get nerfed it will probably be our sunburns, and if that happens we chefs will be almost completely useless

The term nerf means to make weaker, to reduce. (a nerf baseball is weaker than a real baseball, but safer.) The only possible way to nerf chefs right now is to delete the profession.

As for being a joke....I know a lot of people complaining there are not enough bartenders.

He was probably being sarcastic. People in my guild joke about the overpowered newbie melons all the time, it's just sarcasm. Chefs can't be nerfed because there's nothing they can break that isn't already broken or underpowered.

That's a relief...now I can be proud to be nerf resistant!

Even us gimpy chefs aren't nerf resistant. We have Tatooine Sunburns that can be nerfed. I mean, hell, they nerf the droid engineers.

The whole "Nerf the chefs" thing that's going around is mainly a joke. Although some people really do want to nerf chefs. Apparently some people are getting novice chef just for the title, so they can fake out others in battle.

Sunburns are all we have, and if they nerf that, then I'll just throw up my hands and quit the profession. But Vimes is right, the only way they nerf it is to delete the profession.

you guys underestimate the power of the nerf SOE has done way worse things to people in EQ and stuff.

I bet they will nerf tatoiine sunburn, you just wait and see! Its not there style to make everything else better to balance the skills out, they will probably put tat sunbrun in mix 4 or they will nerf its stats (ya i know its sounds cruel, but those SOE guys are cold hearted nerf herders)

lol i bet not only will they nerf tat sunburns, but they will do it before they give us some better food to balance us out with smugglers and stuff.

Like someone already said we still have our sunburns that can be nerfed. The only way to be truely resistant is to be a commando, because NOTHING they have works(it all just looks really cool).
