Thread: A few questions on factories

I have a few items I'm still unclear on, any help would be great!

I was attempting to create Sunburns through my factory last night without succes. Basically, I have a manufacturing Schematic for 25 Sunburns. I then added into the hopper 50 Starshine Surprise Drinks and 2k of Reactive Gas. When I started the factory it quickly came back and said no items where made. Am I doing something wrong? I was able to make other items.

Is there an ETA on when the stacking attributes of our foods going through the factory will be fixed? I can make pet treats up to stacks of 9 and it would be great to make crates of those...and other items.

To help me clear this up: As of right now, a crate is basically 25 uses of whatever item it is. If I have a crate of Sunburns, it's basically 25 Sunburns uses. Right? Also, how much inventory space does crates take up? From what I saw it's almost none.

Thanks for the help

## You should make sure that you make the schematic from exactly the same ingredients you will put into the factory. That's the only solution I have found to correct that problem. Factories tend to be contrary, at least mine does, so I have to baby it.

Is there an ETA on when the stacking attributes of our foods going through the factory will be fixed? I can make pet treats up to stacks of 9 and it would be great to make crates of those...and other items.

## None that I've heard/seen/read about

To help me clear this up: As of right now, a crate is basically 25 uses of whatever item it is. If I have a crate of Sunburns, it's basically 25 Sunburns uses. Right?

## Yes, since our factories are broken, a crate is 25 single use items for us

Also, how much inventory space does crates take up? From what I saw it's almost none.

## Crates take 5 inventory spaces, makes it better to sell 25 uses of something that only takes 5 inventory slots IF you are only making 1-2 use items. Other than that, it's a big fat waste of time.

I use my factory to make Starshines and then make everything else by hand. Hopefully when they unbreak us, it'll all have been worth it. If not... maybe someday I'll get to make Blue Milk, and that would be enough for me

Dacia answered all of your questions, but let me clarify the first one a little more. In order to produce items in a factory that use components(starshine surprise), you MUST use components from a factory crate that were produced from the same schematic. That is why I label all my component crates with the date of the manufacture as well as my name. Problems occur when you just have crates with no distinction and you start trying to use them in factory production. Just an example:

I have two crates of starshine surprise. Both were made with different schematics. I'll call one Crate A and the other Crate B. If you build a schematic for Tatooine Sunburns with2 Starshines from crate A, you can only use Starshines from Crate A(or any from that same schematic) for the production process. However, if you use Crate A for one slot and Crate B for another, then you can use both crates(This is nice. As a tailor, alot of the high-end stuff requires 6 components in one slot so they all have to come from the same production run. Not a big issue though. I hand craft all my high end stuff). Handcrafted Starshines cannot be used in the factory process at all as they ALL have different serial numbers. It actually kind of makes sense in a way once you know about it. Now they just need to fix it so you don't have to take out every individual component from a factory crate in order to make the factory work.

For one crate of Sunburns (25) it takes 50 bottles of Starshines (and gas of course). If I simply place in of 50 bottles of Starshines it won't work..right? Even if those Starshines came from the factory. This is what I did before and it bombed out. I made two crates of Starshines and then split them up into 50 bottles, then moved the bottles over into the factory. Didn't work.

Now, if I create two Starshine crates and name one "star1" and the other "star2" then split them out into 50 bottles...the process works. Am I getting this right? Thanks for the help.

Were the two crates from the same schematic(you did one run with 50 cnt) or from two different schematics(you did 2 runs with 25 cnt)? If the latter, you'll need to make the Tatooine Sunburn schematic with a Starshine from the first run and a Starshine from the second run. Easier to just make a huge run of starshine if possible and not have these issues. You don't have to take it all out, just leave it in your output hopper until you need it each time.

G ~ The Sunburn schematic has to be made from exactly the same components you plan to use in the factory. So...

Step one: Acquire enough resources to make 53 starshine.

Step two: Make 1 schematic, leaving you with the resources to make 52 using that schematic

Step three: Acquire enough gas to make26 sunburns

Step four: Make 1 schematic, leaving enough resources to make one crate of tattooine sunburns

Step five: Put the schematic into the factory along with the exact same resources used to make that stack.

Than wait it out.
