I don't know about anyone else, but I am getting a bit disgruntled here. I chose chef because I wanted to make great food and provide great buffs in the process. Instead, I am looking at nothing but spices on the bazaar. Logged on today and there were four (count em' - 4) actual foods listed out of maybe 60 listed, one food was an advertisement for my vendor.
Am I missing something here?
The benefits of being a chef are being shadowed greatly by the spices that are being sold. How can we compete with that.. all this xp used and the only thing we have to offer is 1 drink, that will probably get nurfed anyway? I don't understand it. I look in vendors and they are selling loads of foraged items, that too are better than what we can offer in most cases. I am beginning to wonder if the expense of running my farms and buying wheat/rice ect. is worth it. I am not giving up just yet.. but when I have people tell me that chef is most likely to follow the miner path to extinction, it seems to be a little less than encouraging.
I experiment on everything that goes into my vendor and onto the bazaar.. everything! and still it cannot compare. The xp grind is so .. so .. well I don't even have to go into that since you all know how that is..
I am trying hard to be enthusiastic, but it seems like more people are quitting the profession than joining. Why?
* our buffs are less than desireable
* spices are being sold as foods when they should have their own category
* any scout or ch has the ability to forage items that have simular attributes
* people do not understand how they work or that they even work
I have resigned myself to the knowledge that I will probably be nothing more than a dog chow salesman.. and that to me is sad.. I can make those without even going into novice chef.. but then.. so can everyone else with domestic training.. sigh...
keeping my chin up.. but man its getting heavy to hold

The spices are there because they are junk and no one can sell them! Food and drink is so great, people simply can't keep the bazaar stocked! Long live Chefs!

Like most elite professions, you'll do **edit** businesswise till you reach a high level. I sell more than just sunburn, and there's no way I can keep my vendor or the bazaar stocked. My customers are mainly made up of more astute players, who want to max out their combat potential. Instead of sitting about whining about my buffs all day, I worked my way up the ladder to master as fast as possible, and I'm now making a good daily profit(about 50-100K a day). And this isn't just sunburn sales. Sure it accounts for 50% of my profits, but there's more.

I always notice lots of spice on the bazaar and no foods, mainly because my food and drinks sell out too fast.

I sell loads of Veghash, Teltier noodle, Sunburns, Caf (yeah, guess they like it
). Those are the food that goes faster. Then you have Stewed Gwouch, Ormachek, Trimpian and Almund Muchies that I sell really cheap and go fast as pet food.
I got entree II, dessert I, mix II and cooking II.
