Thread: Holo Iron Chef speaks out..
Hey guys, I have a few thoughts and recommendations that I have come across.
1. Food buffs need to last much longer, Chefs should be the most powerful buffer in the game but docs are flat out a better deal and last much longer. Buying Sunburn at 500-600 creds just doesnt stack up to a 5k buff from a doctor. And there are a ton of doctors on Bria. Combos of foods and drinks are nice and are good for people that are not in town much, but Devs must realize these buff times are much to short to be competitive with doc buffs.
2.In my opinion the only way to start chef is 1 0 0 0. Recommend to new chefs to get to Stewed Gwough asap for this reason alone, you can use anything organic. I started the beverages line first and I believe that slowed me down considerably. I have tons of bone, hides and carnivore meat in excess of 20k sitting in my inventory while Im scraping for reative gas and rice for Pyro. Not too mention any type of Water along with prices for bone hide and some types of meat are much cheaper than many of the harvested foods sold on bazaar. Then you recommend newbs to move to 1 0 2 0 to get mist but they whole time they are grinding up to that point have their harvestor on Corn, water and MORE havestors on Wheat (stockpiling for later) because I am always running out of wheat before the others.Knowing this I mostly use Stewed Gwough now because of ease in getting resources. Sometimes i find bone, meat and hide 1-2 cpu. Another good reason is you can find the highest concentration of water, then plop your floras right down next to it and get whatever is the highest percentage without worrying bout the type.
3. Dont rip people for asking you the best way to grind chef, I have done searches on this forum and came up empty handed. Just put a title in the above part that is constant that says "Holo chefs look here for info" That way life is good for everyone. Not too mention being a holo chef has givin me the knowledge to be a future customer.
Anyways just some thoughts. Remember Stewed Gwough is the way to go for newbs and be nice to people you'll be happier person.

Ok, in response to your recommendations
1. The rest of us Chefs have been saying this for 5 months now. We are happy you agree. ![]()
2. I would recommend grinding to 0020 to get Ithorian mist first, by the time you grindentree's 1you would be half way to mixology 2. From there it is Ithorian Mist till master chef.
3. We get upset when holochefs make 5 posts a day asking what to grind. This is a message board for chefs to discuss chef related topics like food bugs, suggestions for improving the profession and communicating with other chefs in the game not the "how do I get in and out ofChef as fast as I can so I can become a jedi" message board.
If someone asks me in game what to grindI will tell them, but when we have 5 people a day asking on our message board it gets on your nerves and the nicest thing we can say is read the FAQ (although most of the time we say more).

I wasvery happy before Holocrons came out Kolias and I bet a lot of the other chefs on this board would agree with me. Good luck on mastering chef and good luck with your next profession Kolias.
My main point of grinding bread till 1 0 0 0 first before going to mist is that, during the time you are working toward mist you can stockpile water, corn and wheat. In the mean time you can buy cheap resources or use resources you already had. For instance, I have 6k of avian bones, 9k carn meat, 4k wood, and various amounts of tubers and fungus. So instead of buying resources for pyro and mist before I had them, I could have had a nice pile waiting for me when I got to mist.I started chef 0 0 2 0, I think it would have been better if I went 1 0 0 0 just because from day one my harvestors would be getting me ready for mist beforehand. Because I rushed to Mist, I am constantly running out of resources for mist and go back to Steward quite often. Anyways hopefully that is more clear.
Oh and like I said, it might save you Chefs and us holo slaves time and frustration if the dev consultant or board monitor could put a post at the top by the chef faq that is constant that says "New chefs and holo chefs look here" That and the original chef faq be updated since it is like 6 months old.
We understand the reasoning for gwouch.. its not a new idea. There are a few people around here that have done it that way. But the majority of folks prefer to go straight for the item with the most exp. You personally experienced a resource issue. But many people dont have that problem. Many people come with the backing of their PA or have known all along they wanted to be chef and have been stockpiling resources. Some have a ton of creds andbuy their resources. Gwouch is certainly a good option. And worthy of being in FAQ. But that doesnt mean it is the best way. It simply may have been the best way for you due to the resource problem your personally had.
Maybe we can get the title of the faq changed to new chef faq - read here FIRST or something? Since mods can edit I assume this could be done if it was felt to be a good idea.
no reason to do a search
its the first post stickied at at the top
stewed gwouch is convienent to grind
i couldn't stand it however, it looks just like wastril bread...
Well the chef faq is very nice, but has many errors and is a very broad guide. First of all pyro is not in mix 3 its in mix 1. Second Stewed Gwough gives 105 xp and is in entrees one, the guide seems possibly old and needs to be updated. Has very little information on moving up the chef trees, such as materials to horde etc.
But very nice for a overview of the profession
