Thread: Attention Serious Chefs Valuable Crafter's Tool Creator Seeks Beta Tester
You can see the Hooded Nomads Crafter's Tool in action here:
http://home.comcast.net/~daniel.rivera/photogallery/nomadcrafter.avi
It is a 6mb download.
The video shows the most valuable feature, resource comparison. If your like me where I have over 100 schematics to use and over 100 different types of resources in my stockpile. I was always worried that I would let a resource slip by because I didn't take the time to figure out if it was better than what I already had. At first I was using 4 different excel spreadsheets to try and track everything. That is when I decided I would help myself and the crafters in my guild and create a MS Access database that tracked resources, schematics and items put for sale on vendors.
To compare a resource, the user first enters into the database their resource stockpile with all stat data. When a new resource spawns you enter the stat data into a Resource Compare form and with one button click the database will show you the best resources in your stockpile, for EVERY schematic that has been entered into the database. The resource you are testing will be correctly calculated with stat weights and compared to the best resource for each schematic, be it a schematic that calls for 50% CD and 50% OQ, or one that wants a 100% SR resource.
In the video you see that when the test resource is better (or equal to) the schematic matching resource in your stockpile, the row is highlighted bright yellow/orange. Double click where it says 3 schematics for 50% CD 50% OQ and get a list of those schematics that use this resource type. Double click a single schematic name and the Schematic Data Entry form opens to that schematic.
With another button click, the resource you have compared could be copied into the Resource Data Entry form so you can add the resource to your stockpile.
Once you have entered the proper schematic data, with one button click you can view all resources from the stockpile database that would work in your schematic, or one button click to have it show you only the BEST resources that would work in that schematic. I use this feature every time I make a new schematic for the factories and it is a huge time saver!
Want to track what you’re selling on your vendors? With one button click the schematic data is copied into the Vendor Item Data Entry form. Track separate items on separate vendors on different planets, which may carry different version of your goods. Generate reports of goods for sale that can be copied to be posted on the SWG forum trade boards (bravo devs for setting aside separate trade forums for servers).
I am looking for a Master Chef to help beta test the current build. You must be running Office XP and have MS Access installed. The database will be provided in .MDE format, where you are unable to change/view/edit the underlying tables, code, forms, etc. This might change if you can provide proof that you are an MS Access guru and would be interested in doing hands on work with the database.
The beta tester will be asked to input all Chef schematics, directly from information in game. I would like the most current schematic data. I have found that some sites like SWGCRAFT are incomplete and not current, and would prefer that the beta tester not copy data from a web site. You will also be encouraged to submit bug reports, feedback and suggestions on the functionality and usability of the database tool.
For your assistance and feedback, we will provide you a copy of the final build that will have all schematic data, from all professions, preloaded and ready to use.
If you are interested, leave here in this thread your in game name, length of time that you have been a master crafter and server that you play on. Some time in the next week or two I will contact a couple applicants via SWG forums PM with download instructions.

Yea, there are a lot of things categories that say double when you link them up. You get stuff like Reactive Gas Gas ![]()
Glad to see a couple interested people. I'm going to pick testers Friday night. Over the weekend I'll set up download spot and contact the testers. Looking forward to getting to know some chefs that can help out with the tool.
Been playing since the beginning (not beta) - been a chef from the start. Made a few spreadsheets for tracking shematics and pricing...but didn't have the energy to track the resources - though I'm wishing I did now that I'm in dire need of knowing what resources are the best.
Thought I'd try to bid for a testing spot - but I understand if you want someone with more time on their hands and a little more experience as a master.
Good Luck!
Sorry for the delay in posting an update. Flu bug nailed me recently.
For those that are still interested, please register for use of the forums at www.hoodednomads.com/forums.
Once you have registered, post you beta application request in this thread: http://www.hoodednomads.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2027
I am very close to having the beta version ready to download, I just finalized the resource compare feature. Also added is a report for listing your items available for sale on the vendors.
