I'm bored! And I'm waiting on a factory to finish up some Sullustan Gin so I can at least make an attempt to keep up with orders for Ice Blaster lol.

So... here's my question: Why do you like this profession?

I'm sure some of you, if not most, are aware that a holocron told me to become a master chef. I freely admit it. I also freely admit that this has been one of the most interesting professions that I've tried, second to Creature Handler (which was my original goal when buying SW:G). So now I'm in love with it, don't want to drop it, and have two crafter characters! I certainly groaned when I read the holo message "Chef?" I thought, "No one's a chef, and for good reason. This is gonna suck. Get it over with as soon as possible, and dump it." Er... my bad?

Anyway... my reasons for the change of heart? There is so much to make, so many options, that it doesn't get boring. Everything is useful, to some degree, and there are several versions of the most powerful buffs given. I can help people, make their hunts easier by providing top quality buffs that don't cause them to go into seizures or comas when they wear off, PLUS they can take multiple servings at a time. I walk into Coronet with my Expert Chef title up (soon to be master) and I am swarmed by folks wanting to know what's for sale today, whether they can make an advanced order, how soon can I make this or that. It's nice to be wanted =)

My only gripe is that I'll probably end up grinding through Chef again on my alt, who was supposed to be the crafter, once i finally decide that architect no longer holds the thrill for me that it used to.

Many of the reasons you gave are mine as well. I entered this game knowing that we had one character per service (moronic) and limited points (even more moronic), but thats the nature of this game. At first I was going to follow the unarmed trees and pick up one crafting profession (as I REALLY enjoy crafting in games). At first, I was going to be an armorsmith...but my PA already had one, so I went with the profession we did not have...CHEF!

What did chef give me? headaches...heartaches...and something to fallback on when other things became boring...then suddenly I was a master and producing things that I thought were incredible. These days I am a bit jaded, but still see us as a POWERFUL profession that in many cases can enhance everyone's playing experience in some manner. I love it when someone asks me what I've got in my bag...lately I've been moving vendors and products, so the bags have actually been empty (they always ask when I am going for refills -- LOL). I can't believe I have 3 food vendors...never would have thought it.

I also love talking shop with fellow chefs (here and also with a few on my server in mail and tells /wave Radiant chefs). The community is the most valuable part of any game and we have a good one here...even if the game is broken and lacking in many ways. As time moves on, it will become better...not because it's hit rock bottom, but because it simply takes time for a game to become stable, solid, and moving in the right direction...but enough of that non-chef nonsense...

I am very pleased that I picked chef. We may have been broken and still are in some ways, but we are receiving attentionfrom the devs. We are alsoreceiving recognition for having useful products from other players, especially those of us who get out there and talk to people. Certainly our products could be better, but without the bugs business has been good.

i'm happy being a chef, i'm stalling my advancement so i don't have to drop business III in my fcfs hunt

Nice read. Makes me even look more forward to mastering chef. I decided to do chef pretty much soon as I was able to so Im no long term player = $$ not so great. Im sourcing all my own resources at the moment so I guess it will take a while before I get to master chef but Im in no rush. It's summer over here in Australia so I'm enjoying outdoor a lot more than indoor (look out for next year Winter though!). I'll have gained my first skill tonight when I get home from work. Took me 2 days to gain it but then again, Im no power player.

I originally wanted to be a bartender, but I found that trying to tend bar when I only had Clothing & Food 3 on the artisan tree pretty much suxx0red.

So I went to grinding for awhile outside of the cantina, and in the cantina I became a musician.

Since my character was going to be a pure crafter, I never picked up any fighting skills. So, eggs were a wonderful thing for my meat-based dishes... Then I came up with a crazy idea (since I am a heavy roleplayer) to be a vegetarian chef. So, my pursuit now is to continue up the chef tree and make money along the way... I ended up picking up merchant skills along the way, and I also decided my character has a streak of avarice in him.

I grinded very, very hard this weekend and actually got 2 boxes of chef. I don't see how some people got it all done in 3 days!!! Well, I do, but I'm just not that dedicated I suppose.

This is great stuff! I love the "no MSG" and "May contain peanuts" lol. I just may use that.

Seems like there are some very creative people in this business. That always makes it fun...

Kalos I may just stop by Radiant to check out your fair. I've been toying with the idea ofhosting one of my own in our player city, might pick up some tips =) Keep me updated on when it is,'kay?

And I totally understand the negativity towards peoplethat badmouth your profession. Despite the immense popularity of creature handlers we still get it on that board too "Fastest way to get through this so I can get rid of it?" Probably not as often... folks seem more interested in combat power housing than crafting 9 times out of 10. It'll probably get worse with the new badges, sad to say

Keep em comin guys, this is fun stuff to read. It's always nice to see positive notes on adiscussion board rather than the usual ranting and raving about how unfair life is. If 100 people don't see how wonderful thisprofession is... well that's1000 customers you guysget to keep =)

I will be posting the details for the Chili Cook-off and Food Fair on the Radiant Board, the Chef Board and the Events Board about a week prior to the actual event to let people get ingredients together and such (I am having a special twist on a crafting competition :smileywink

It should be in a few days. I am still finalizing events and prizes. I also want to find out how many chefs are interested and will be able to come, there are so few of us spread across so many time zones it might be hard to manage.

/wave Radiant chefs! we are a small but great comunity. I know most of us share waypoints, have good comunications and dont care about the competence. I always send my customers to other chefs when im not able to serve their orders and I dont care about loosing them. I dont like the war between crafters I see in another proffessions, lowering prices each other and ruining markets offering bad products at stupid low prices to ruin a competitor.

For me I originally set my sights on Weaponsmith, but this being my first online game I wasn't aquainted with a lot of the ins and outs. I had problems with the experimenting thing, I mean unless you are a master your products are substandard and don't sell very well. So as I slowly grinded my way up the Weapon smith skill tree and I met a young Artisan named Chetiera who wanted to learn the Domesticskill tree of Artisan fromme cause she was planning on becoming a chef.

By this time I was already well through the Merchant skill tree and went to a weaponsmith to buy some weapons to sell on my vendors to give mea wider selection seeing as my weapons didn't sell very well. During the conversation with the weaponsmith in question I found out how much they were charging for their weapons (and having all of the firearms crafting tree I knew how few materials they took to make, a gun that takes 500 resources to make selling for 15k and it has gotton worse with the introduction of kryat materials. Now I don't want any angry letters from weapons smiths. There are some really good weapons smiths out there and I urge the buying public to shop around and find the good weapon smiths) Needless to say I wasn't impressed with some of the people I met in weapons smith so I wanted out.

I had been hanging out with Chetiera more at this point who was now a novice chef and was really enjoying it so I dropped weaponsmith for chef with the intention of becoming a bartender. We catered a wedding or two, I was the bartender and she made the food and I never had more fun in a game than when I was working with her.

I began the gring up the Chef tree, started reading the Chef message board andIloved every minute of it. I loved talking shop with other chefs, compairing ingredients, team serveying for resources, not to mention that the chefs are some of the best players in the game. Now because food was underpowered I found Chefs to be more role players than anything and that appealed to me even more.

I mastered Chef so I could make some of the more advanced drinks still with the hope of opening a cantina. The apperent willingness of the Devs to let Chefs dangle in the breeze bothered me butI started to take note of the Chefcorrespondent SirVimes and how he always had an answer for me, and if he said he would have an update for us on monday it would be on monday, not 2 months later like the devs. I havea lot of respect for SirVimes and all the hard work he does here for us.

After the profession statistics came out and we all found out that Chefs only outnumbered Jedi and Pikemen I was even more proud to be a chef. The select chosen few. We have taken an unpopular profession and made it our home because we love being chefs even though it has problems. This is the main reason I don't like holochefs.

Yes food has it's problems, but we love being chefs anyway. Nothing pisses me off more than a holochef that **edit** and gripes through the whole profession. If you don't like it make up a new character and hope that you next holocron doesn't tell you to be a chef. Don't come here and complain about something I and a lot of other people here love doing.

If you are a holochef who has discovered the profession and decided you like it then cheers to you. Actually to clarify I don't hate holochefs, per se. I hate non chefs telling me my profession sucks, so as soon as a holochef complains about the profession I quickly move them into the Non Chef area and it is open season on them. I have gotten along with a few holochefs that never said a badword about chef.

My reason for becoming a Chef is named Chetiera, whose enthusiasm introduced me to the Chef profession and made this game a joyful and memorable experience for me.For that I am forever in her debt and we are still good friends to this day.

I am also bored as my factories are running to and I have nothing else to do right now except plan the Chili Cook-off and Food Fair that I amgoingto beholding on Radiant in a week or so (and I needed a break) If anyone from Radiant reads this and is interested in the food fair just email me

lol Beautiful. I've got to think up some snazzy stuff to tag my items with. I was in the car the other day and heard this corny commercial for some sort of focus enhancing pill. Might plagiarise the heck outta that one for my mind buff foods. Or the Simpsons... Glazed Glucose Pate will now be renamed "Focusin".

And I don't wanna do chef again after holos, it's during. I have two accounts. One char is for combat, one for crafting. Somehow they're both crafters now though, lol. /shakestick @ holocron

Put up a vendor in my town's cantina today =) She's named Serving Wench, dressed her up in some suitably wenchish clothing. I was disappointed I couldn't make her wink at customers though =( Perfect timing, we had a birthday party of sorts and people started buying some of the single servings just to play up the RP a bit. Now they know where to go =)

One more box! Entrees 4! Already have the app points I need, so as soon as I finish up grinding that last box i'll be the illustrious Master Chef. I really hate the sight of Ithorian Mists.

I came up with amusing descriptions for some of my foods... I don't know if anyone actually reads the descriptions though.

I also like renaming foods (especially ones with strange names) into something unusual just to get more attention.

Blap Biscuits = Gungan Flapjacks

Stewed Gwouch = Fried Water

Wastril Bread = Corellian Crumble Bread

Graylin Juice = Wookiee Nookiee

Now, nobody go stealing my ideas or I'll sic Chefbot on you!!!
