Thread: Anyone thinking of how the upcoming patch is going to affect chefs?

The upcoming patch is going to rework HAM bars, and SOE said mind is going to be less of an impact. Now I don't know if they mean only damage wise or for both damage as well as HAM costs when using weapons/styles.

Now, I don't only sell Brandy and Canape but those two bring me in $$ all the time. I sell just about every single item that a chef can make but the most bought items are still mind related. With the patch, if Mind isn't such a great deal, then these two items will of course become less popular. I can see a lot of chefs who only make those two items, disappear.

This makes it even more important to educate others about food. But how can we do this if they don't ever ask? If you spam, people will add you to ignore. I've even posted on my server boards and not a lot of folks read up about the food. I've sent out e-mails to my customers about the other foods that are out there and still, it's always Brandy and Canape.

What I'd like to see is on those screens when logging in and zoning, a little FYI about food and a statement that says that there are foods that give you bonses vs knockdown, etc. I think if it's not right there in your face, you're probably not going to listen anyway

Anyway, that was just a few thoughts.

Em,

I have nothing to offer about the Patch, but I can tell you what I do to help create interest in food:

When not out cooking/checking harvesters, I try to be playing musicin my Cantina which has a fair amount of traffic. All around my Cantina are examples of the foods that I can make, with their buff stated in food name. (ex: Gungan Brandy - +380 all Mind Stats) When folks come in I'll greet them if I haven't seen them before, and ask them how I can help them. (As if a regular restaurant) Even if they aren't looking for anything in particular, I'll ask them about what they do, hunt, make, etc. Based on that, I can usually recommend some foods and drinks that they didn't know exist. CH's love to learn about the Jawa Beer, while Trandos are excited to learn about the Regen food.

I also make it a habit to hand out stuff that I'm experimenting on to prospective customers. I've given the TK food to the TKM's, Bivoli to the Docs, and the KD food to the PVP'ers, and ask for their feedback. If their comments are positive, I know to make more of it for them and their buddies. A test run of SnowCake/Accuracy food caused a good demand for that one.

Good luck!

Well, I do assist customers who come into my shop when I am around but mostly my sales happen when I am logged off. Anyway, ever since I was a master chef which is way back when the game came out, I have always labled my foods in their name. Always Always. And yeah I do end up giving out free samples of stuff and ask for feedback but never really hear anything in return. Like with Bivoli, I've given some to a few docs now and they were docs who haven't used it or didn't have any. They liked the results but they didn't contact me for more or stop by my shop. My food also has "By Halle" or "crafted by Halle" in the name as my factories were put down by an alt and that alt's name ends up on the food otherwise.

Oh well. I did just set up a Cantina though in my town but we are out on Talus. Not a very popular or busy place. Boy I wish they would add a new dungeon like the Geo Caves on Talus. Anyway, a dancer in our city had put down a Cantina and I didn't think of also putting one down as well until this past weekend. I don't believe the dancer is too happy about it though. It has brought me more business oddly enough.

They said mind would make "less" of an impact, but according to that statement it still will have some impact. Personally I think poeple prefer to buy brandy then run around the galaxy for an hour looking for a Master Muscian and/or Entertainer. Sales "may" decrease, but I think it will be ok.

I think focus will be worthless as I understand things, however you still take damage. So +mind and +willpower will still be important as per max damage that can be taken and damage regen. There will need to be something HAMish that get used up for specials though. I am guessing it will nerf the spaming of specials.
