I know that poison and disease buffs do not defend against poisons or disease from DOT weapons. I was wondering if trimpian is the same for fire lances or if it can defend against it.

I think I can help here.
I made some 42% fire resist trimpian for testing and tested it for two factors:
1. Initial burn damage, i.e. direct damage from flamethrower
2. Burn damage over time (DOT).
Two sets of tests for both factors were conducted, the first of which used a commando, his flamethrower, and flamesingle2 special attack. The second test was using a lousy health fire DOT combat staff. Obviously the staff does not do direct flame damage, only DOT.
RESULTS:
A. Flamethrower - Trimpian reduces BOTH direct fire damage and flame DOT, in the approximate percentage indicated on the food stat. This is can be dramatically seen just by observing the damage numbers over the test subject's head.
B. Weapon Fire DOT - Similar tothe flamethrower DOT/burn. Trimpian reduces the damage of the DOT.
Tested during the time between Pub9 and Pub10. Hope this helps.

If it works at all it must ? Other then a flamethrower or BH attack all flame damage comes from DOTs. This would be a pretty useless food if it didn't but I've never tested it.
