Well, as a holgrinder (31 profs) I've got 6 free unlocks waiting for me, and since there's a pretty limited number of useful FS skills, I'm planning on taking the Force Experiment line. After seeing the xp requirements, I can't say I'd grind it up if I weren't getting it for free (grinding just one line is the equivalent xp as grinding from Novice to Master Chef 7 times)
There are four FS crafting skills:
1) improves chances of getting amazing experimets
2) improve assembly (virtually useless to Chefs, as assembly failures are rare enough to only hurt when you lose a rare drop like a Krayt tissue... and there aren't any rare drop enhancements for chefs)
3) improved repairs - obviously not an issue for Chefs
4) reduces chance of failed experiments - this doesn't strike me as very useful because if you turn critical failures into moderate successes, I'm still going to scrap the session and start over. Again, I see a larger interest here for AS/WS who could be burning rare drop loots.
Basically, for a Chef, it's not such a big deal. With or without the FS skills it's not that tough to get a 12-pt. amazing schematic, so a FS Chef doesn't actually make better food than a non-FS Chef, he just saves a couple minutes making the schematic (presuming the FS skill even works, which is certainly an open question).

I don't know if I'll go for a few FS lines on my chef or not. I know I'm going for at least a FS char on my alt though. My chef toon though has only mastered 2 professions and even the 4 points for the experimentation line(probably the most useful of the 4) is actually hard to come by with my current template.
The thought of firing up my crafting macro again just sends a chill down my spine as well.
