The only thing that matters to CH for pet food is # of uses per stack. The problem is, until we hit master chef no chef food is any better than an artisan food for pet food. You have so many artisan experimentation points, you can make stacks with 8-10 uses without even thinking. You won't be doing that with chef foods until at least master chef.
imho, either one of two things needs to happen:
1. the buffs/duration of the food buffs need to affect the pet feeding. This on its own won't fix it, but in conjunction with the "grand rebalancing" of chef foods that is coming it will.
2. their needs to be special chef foods that are only suitable for pet foods: no buffs, but big stacks. Maybe something that at novice will do 10 per stack with average materials and no experiemntation, and a few on the way up to master (maybe one at entrees 2 with 15 per stack, and another at master with 20 per stack).
