Forgive me if this has already fait accompli. I tried reading some of the posts on filling rate and was reduced to gibbering and have really been too busy to adress this. However someone asked me today how long it would take for the food he was buying to digest completely so I thought about it briefly and came up with this simple equation. It works with any stomach timer, whatever that will finally end up being; Ive seen estimates for 45min and 50min....whatever. The timer is supposed to be 30min on complete digestion so I'll use that as one variable and the filling rate for synthsteak (28) as another.
1) 30 minutes equals 100% digestion (100pts stomach space)
2) synthsteak is 28 filling (or 28 of 100pts total stomach space)
3) let(m) be the number of minutes it takes to completely digest synthsteak
so we come up with this:
30 min /m = 100% digestion / 28% filling (for one synthsteak)
30 /m = 100 / 28
30 x 28 = 100m
100m = 840
m = 8.4
so (1) synthsteak based on 30min complete stomach digestion takes 8.4 min to digest fully

m = 8.4 so
digestion rate (dr) of synthsteak is 8.4

An easier way to describe it is to take the filling as a percent, and multiply that by the full-stomachdigestion time.
So a synthsteak has Filling: 28. With a 30m stomach, the digestion time is simply:
30minutes * 0.28 = 8.4 minutes.
Same result, less algebra. With a 45m stomach (what we currently seem to be stuck with) it'd be:
45minutes * 0.28 = 12.6 minutes.
