I made a large cup or whatever (uses 100 gemstone) and I am not getting xp for it. What do I have to craft to get Chef xp??

Im pretty sure anything from the chef tree will give chef xp. Anything in the artisan tree will give general crafting xp. Large glasses are in Dom Arts 4. I think that may be the problem.

Casks are in the chef tree and give artisan experience. This is the exception to the rule, however, and I am fairly sure it is a bug.

Sort version, restart the game, to make sure that it'll actually show you any exp you're getting, and then read one of the FAQ's about what items to make for exp. 
I've been working the grind for a few days, and only have about a day or so left. I feel your pain, but it's something we must go through to be the masters of our kitchens!

my understanding is all food containers give artisan xp even if they are in the chef line.

Not the only exception, though: barrels also give artisan xp. Sure, it's in Master, so at that point you're not really worried about chef xp, but it just struck me as odd that *all* the containers give artisan xp, even the two that are in Chef.
