Thread: Port 12% Having an issue with Nutirent % and Results

Here is the deal, I'm making some Bespin Port last night. I have 5 perfect 120% BE Nutrients left. So Imake 5 12%/18 use Ports. No Problem. I have the resources to do it.

Before I do that I try to make a schem with my 117 BE Nutrient inserts. I get 11% port. This was at 79%.

OK right?

BUT: I made 4 out of the 5 hand crafted Ports with 120 BE comps to 12%....at 78% and 79% and one at 80%. These all came out at 12% Port.

Is there something I am missing? I made a 12% port at 78% Nutrient Effectiveness with a 120 BE comp....yet when I get a 79% Nut Eff with the 117% BE I only get 11% port?

Am I a noob? (SciGuy, Cami andOdds keep quiet!)

Can you do 12% port without a 120BE comp? I Think you should be able to, my Fruits and Tubers are not that uber, Tat seems to be suffering through a drought for the last 2 months on Chilastra.

Thanks for any assistance and advice.

No fair pre-emptively stopping me from calling you a noob.

/pointat Bliznit; NOOB!

Anyway, you're running into a rounding issue. Bespin port only gives a whole-number bonus, and I'm not entirely sure whether or not any decimals are tracked by the crafting system when the additive bonus is rolled in.

So, using your 120 bonus additives, you experimented to 78%, 79%, and 80% Nutrition, and all came out with a bonus of 12. Let's use 78%, to try to keep as close to the "rollover" point as we can (where it increases from 11 to 12).

A 120 bonus additive means that the bonus is 2.2 times what you'd get at the same experimental percentage without an additive. So at 78%, an unenhanced Port would give a bonus of 5.45. And since the decimals are cut off, this displays as "5".

A 117 bonus additive and experimenting to 78% would give you one of two results:

  1. If the decimal is tracked, the bonus would be 5.45 * 2.17 = 11.8, rounding down gives a bonus of 11.

  2. If the decimal is not tracked, the bonus would be 5 * 2.17 = 10.85, rounding down gives a bonus of 10.

Huh. Since you're getting an 11 bonus, it looks like the rounding isn't done until all the calculations are finished. :makes note.

Anyway, this means that to get a 12 bonus port with a 117 additive, you'd have to get to the same experimentation percentage as an unenhanced Port with a 5.53 bonus. Checking my revamp chart, the range I have for Port's buffis way wrong, since that has an upper limit of 12 without an additive. I'll double check the numbers when I get home tonight. But based on your results, I think that experimenting Nutrition into the low- or mid-80s might allow you to hit 12 with a 117 additive.

Of course, this would requireTatooine to spawn some decent fruit and berries. I haven't seen any 800+ stuff there since before the revamp.

You might be just confused as to what that 78 or 79% actually means.

Lets take regular bespin port as an example. Lets assume you got that to 79%. This translates into some bonus. I would assume 5.something

I'll assume it is 5.5.

Using a 117% additives this would turn into (5.5*2.17) = 11.935

Using a 120% additives this would turn into (5.5*2.20) = 12.1

No matter what additive you use, 79% is still going to mean the exact same base value. The additive is then added onto the base value. As you can see in the 2 above examples. The 120% additive definately gives to +12 and the +117 gives a +11. All numbers to my knowledge in this game are rounded down.

Thanks for the help! I thought it had to be something to do with the Calc's.

I know what you mean about the TAT resources SciGuy. I'm lucky enough to have some older stuff around but now want to get some 118 heavies made!...easier said than done.

Um...what would happen If I used a 88-89 medium BE comp?
