Thread: As a chef are you harvesting your own resources or buying them?
See, I would be one of those resource hoarders that everyone hates. ![]()
I harvested the heck out of good spawns, now I'm just going to live off my stocks for the next year or so.

Haha me too.
I horded around 2.5 million of farstars best berries (still the best recorded ones), they're over a year old now.
And my Greens are coming up 2 years old, had a field of 40 ber 5's on them about a month into farstar going live.

Only 2.5mil? Tsk tsk, you can hoard better than that! ![]()
I have 11mil of Flurry's best berries, which also happens to be the best average flora spawn on our server. Over a year old. People are buying for 40cpu on the trade forums, but when you think about it, why do I really need credits when I can have berries?
Since I'm only one account though, I do have to buy all my resources, usually contracting them out for 3-4cpu as they spawn, or for creature resources, 20-30cpu.
I think you will find that you will want to do both. Any new good spawns that come along, its far cheaper to harvest yourself. However, as the previous posters and many additional postings on this board over the years have indicated, the diversity of resources required for our schematics makes it difficult not to do a little buying here and there. As an example, i recently ran out of good radioactive for picu. At the time, there was not a good spawn in game so i went to the bazaar and bought a little (actually I bought all I could, which was not much).
One word of warning when going out to buy resources, there is an inverse relationship on resources spawning vs buying. Its called Jefe's law (after me of course, lol) Within one week of overpaying by more than a factor of 10 cpufor a great resource that has not spawned on your server for over 200 days, the server will automatically spawn that resource within 5 pts of whatever you bought. It never fails to humle even the best of us.
Regards and good cooking

This Law also states that if you spend 3 days surveying for a resource then decide "oh to heck, I'll go buy some", as soon as you get the e-mail saying "vendor purchase complete" that resource will spawn at 90% right outside your house with the best stats ever to be seen on your server.
