Thread: Chef Issues Designer responses
Holy old post batman rofl For a minute I thought the response we were waiting on had been posted lol
"As far as I can see, there is no exp gained from factories whatsoever, nor is there any uxp gained at all."
Nope, it just manufactures things. And nope, or at least not unless you're not watching the person who's eating your food but they're doing it in your presence or some other really involved arcane method.
"What is the deal and where is the motivation to become a chef if this profession is that broken?"
Either you think it's fun, or your holocron told you to. *shrugs* Everyone has their own individual motivations and we all want it to be fixed. It's one thing to be "broken" imo and quite another to be "broken" and "bugged" (food) as well. *sighs* At any rate, don't give up hope as an aspiring Chef =) There is soon to be news regarding what the Devs may do about our plight. ![]()
I think it's fun! ![]()
It's fun to be a chubby, happy soon to be chef.
Sure, my cooking ain't the best, but I'm motivated to press on. I will be a chef and I will have me own place.
If there's an upgrade to go with it, that's just a pure bonus.
Sorry...no milk here...
....only beer ![]()
Wow, 8-15-03.
Thats the last time anyone has responded to chef's. Has it really been that long?
3 months and not one improvement. 3 months and 3 profession breaking bugs that have just now been fixed. apparently 3 months is soon to Q. Have they done the balance pass yet? No. Hell they are just starting to talk to Vimes about it.
/sigh
Hiya, I'm a Master Chef on Intrepid and I have to say how overlooked this class is. I don't ever post as it seems to be utterly fruitless. I have been reading as a Master Chef since Q posted about the revamp that was coming and it's been 3 months since. I make factory crates of high quality food that I can barely get a return on my credits and time, my thoughts are oh it must be undeveloped cause this cant be it as good as it gets because smugglers have only one tier of spice and make a killing off of it and yet there are no forseeable changes. I've stopped trying to sell it and just provide requests to my guild because I'm tired of people complaining about pricing. I'm getting closer everyday to cashing it for something else. Also how is it that an entertainer can place a cantina in a player cityand a Chef cannot, another HUGE overlook. My opinion is if you can't give a class the attention it deserves delete the class and don't get our hopes up.

I've been a novice chef for a while now simply because there isn't much of a reason to master this profession in any rush. I like chef, and i plan on taking more skills in it regardless of changes, but i do have a few requests that have probably been mentioned tons of times.
1) Food stinks, no one wants a buff that lasts a couple of minutes when they can get a buff from a doctor that does 2k worth of buff and lasts a lot longer. (i know this one has been said a ton)
2) Everything looks the same. If we can't make food that people want to use, at least let us make food that looks neat so people can decorate with it. ![]()
3) CHEF HATS! (that only chefs can wear because i'm stingy)
4) Find more use for food beyond cheap buffs. This is possibly an alternate option instead of just improving the duration of buffs. Maybe make food that can heal you (and no medic skills required) or something (make food required like in EQ?
)
I must go back and check out some of the suggestions other chef's have made as i've just started reading the forums. Please let me know what you think of my suggestions guys.
been cheffing since beta. the fact that the devs and the money people behind them have just now ACKNOWLEDGED that there are all these rediculous problems says one thing and one thing only about this game. It isn't very good. Grinding for 36 hours to get to mix3 only to make some **edit** that lasts a minute and a half is barely worth the discussions in this forum. Anyway. See you all in EQ II. just pissed sony makes cash on that game too. Why can't blizzard own it? <sigh>

The only thing that really bugs me as a chef now are the bugs with experimentation. I know most of our buffs are useless compared to spice or doc buffs. But almost everytime I log on I see my email icon flashing showing someone bought something from me. Well ya, I'm barely charging anything for it...but it is giving me Some income, requiring me to do less missions. Overall I'm having fun being a chef. Destroymissions benefit me with XP for other profs, resources to cook with, And money to maintain harvs. And I get asked to cater parties every once in awhile, which is always alot of fun. ![]()
Its just when i'm experimenting (i have cook iv..) it shows 0% failure and i can get two crit failures in a row (on experimenting, not the initial combine) And also how some schematics you can't experiment on the duration with any real outcome. Sometimes I'll get a successful experiment with it changing the duration by 1 second...I'll try again after that and get NO change with another success....
But some schematics work well, like Ormachek. Thank goodness...

As for the buffs....yes, the buffs could last longer. And I would like to see the need to eat, even every now and then, to come up.
Yes, I'm trying to go through the chef skill tree..and I hear a lot about grinding stuff out. Why grind if you aren't going to enjoy yourself? Isn't that why we play this game? Because we enjoy it? I've got a droid with a food crafting station..I have to wait for a transport, I craft. I'm in the cantina just relaxing, I craft. And I tend to let folks know I'm crafting food. I have several repeat customers because of that.

It is not Eggs i need those i find It is milk and it seems everyone needs it. Yet a holocron drops more often than milk and when it does in units of 3. I need atleast 20 to make anything what is up with that?????????

I have 300 units of the same kind of Domesticated Milk, aren't you jealous?
I'm interested in becoming a Chef and so have read some posts here.
My thinking is that to increase the popularity of foodstuffs, the developers could incorporate the following:
1) Regular eating of certain foods can increase your stats. Much like a buff but lasts all the while you maintain the diet. Just as an example; eating high protein foods improveconstitution by50 points as long as you eat twice per day (real time day). If you slack on the diet, you'll lose the points again.
2) Certain foods can create a resistance to poisons, diseases etc.... (again, as long as maintain the diet)
3) Foods / Drinks that cause hallucinations (some fun for the graphic artists there).
4) Players don't need to eat, but if they don't, they will suffer a penalty to certain stats, movement etc... People might not enjoy having to stop to eat food, so what if they just have a store of food in their inventory, and automatically consume it as required during the course of the day? This could just be for basic rations to prevent hunger. 'Special' foods would have to be manually eaten.
5) Food can be used in crafting, e.g. bait in animal traps.
6) Food helps to tame creatures (I've never been a CH, so forgive me if this is in the game already or is an absurd suggestion!)
7) Chefs can create huge packs of food for many people. This could be carried by group leaders, who couldthen feed the groupwhen in a camp. This would save each member from having to manually eat food to get enhancements. This could also contribute to squad leaders getting xp.
