Wow, that was disturbing...and I'm not easily disturbed.

I'm not sure that I don't like the factories only cranking out single-use stacks.

The way things are, the only things made in the factories are base components (like alcohols, dough, etc.) and special orders for the people that don't mind paying out the nose. Most food is hand-crafted and placed on vendors or sold directly through the trade window in multiple-use stacks.

Do I really need or want more food on my vendors so that it expires in a week if not sold and I get spammed by email and have to go in and clear the stockroom? Not me.

Do I really want to sell my customers crates of food with 200 servings instead of 25 so that they only need to come visit my shop everycouple months? Not me.

Do I really want my profit margins to erode because I have to substantially lower my per-serving price due to sticker shock of buying 200 servings per crate? Not me.

There is very little "up-side" to having factories able to produce food with larger quantities and lots of "down-sides". It could very well potentially kill a nicely profitable profession as people using "cost-based" pricing flood the market with thousands of stacks of cheap food such that no one needs to buy anymore for weeks.

The way things are, filling a decent sized order requires a bit of effort and time on the part of the Chef. This means that there is more room in the market for more Chefs to build up a decent client baseand have fun while making money. You can bet that this soon-to-be Master Chef would scrap the large house and switch to a small house on each main planet withall the rest of my lots being factories as soon as the change was made. With the admin permissions with my friends' nearby Chem Factories, that's8 or sofactories in total I could have churning out thousands of servings of food a day while distributing it to every major planet in the galaxy... and I'm just ONE chef.

In short, the "brokeness" of factories prevents Wal-Mart.

so.. when can we expect a fix?

1.Desirability of Food

2.Bugged Stacks becoming unusable

3.Milk

4.Experimentation and quality of ingredients nto making a big enough difference.

it would be nice to be able to use spice as ingredients for meals, this way we can make much better food with huge stat bufs (food buffs+ spice buffs = very good bufs )

like 0%-max80% (depens on your mastery) of the spice buffs will remain when you add it as an ingredient to a meal or drink, no puke effects and a lower check when trying to ship it to another planet (when factional police is in)

sounds fun to me

I totaly agree with the concept, ziik the corelian outlaw chef, of starsider, was created with that goal, use the some filthy cantina crowlling with drunk criminals as cover to sell it's special not so legal products, stored under the counter...right next to his rusty carbine.

As for the factorys i totaly agree with the previus post that names all the "downs" of having factorys producing huge amounts of food. I i like to see factory food as now days fast food... they'r cheap and "fast" to get but not as no real quality... on the other hand made food is allways much better and most restaurants have thouse, not "factory" food even if they use some factory made components like frozen pre-fried potatos or something in the cooking of their food.

When you reblance the food... keep this in mind.

Make it more like real-life. We have energy bars and drinks.. which are nice for high energetic periods, but they don't last all that long. On the other hand... nothing like a 5 course meal to stuff yourself and not need to eat for 8-10 hours.

Have a variety of foods, don't make them all long... make the shorter ones more powerful than the longer ones.. but less powerful than the spices... so you can go for the max or take the easy road without the downers.

Thanks for the feedback Q and Chef Designer.

Yes , yes....The chef issues. My two main issues have already been discussed , but I'll throw them out there

Firstly, the issue of food becoming useless if you use a portion of it and then relog. 9 times out of 10 , it's not usable anymore. Is this something to emulate food going bad after you open the seal , or just a bug?

Secondly , the milk thing. Why introduce food with a resource that doesn't exist yet?

In consideration , I may never use milk anyway. I'd hate to have to pay a scout to try to milk banthas , nor would I trust the quality of a dairy product looted from some thug in the middle of the Tatooine desert.

I , myself , have been making decent money on the pet food market. Plenty of people with pets cannot get their own food , and many CHs would rather buy a crate of food than get forage for stuff that fills their inventory.

To me (since I am the author of it =) it makes much more sense then adding more numbers...

I reported and posted this exact bug last week

Being a combination Chef/Fencer, food for me is vital for melee combat, and I couldn't understand why it was taking me so long to swing at my target and why my action bar took forever to recover
