Its harder to start out. Use some of your 10 mil to buy some resouces or wait till good spawns come out. I would not suggest making crappy stuff because people usually want the best.

I was lucky and hit Master Chef while some great berries were around. I got about 100k of them (since they despawned about 1 or 2 days later), but still it got me started, together with some Fruits i had bought of a vendor.

Then a few weeks later some very good frutis spawned... have 3 million of those now

Bought some more of those berries soon afterwards once i had the money

What do you chefs do when there are no good resource spawns? I just started my business last week (made 10 million so far w00t) but now that I need to restock there are NO good spawns and I have nothing saved up. Should i just make some crappier stuff or what? :-/ thanks for the help

Fortunately, you chose the absolute best crafting profession when it comes to resource availability. So few of our resources are named resources and odds are that within one month you can make most major foods with average or above average stats just by being patient. It may take a while to get fantastic fruits and berries but you can definitely make sellable foods before that time. If I was in your shoes I wouldn't hassle harvesting anything less than 700/700 PE/OQ resources. You should use this time to lay the groundwork for your business. Prepare your components in advance and you'll be ready to spring into action when the time finally comes. Make sure you have plenty of casks, alcohol, dough, carbosyrup and protato made in advance. You get the idea!

Have fun!

I'm in the same boat right now (newer chef little bit of resources and no good berry/fruit spawns). I'm making factory runs of mostly componets and stocking piling other stuff that comes in on a good shift like hide, wood, meat, gemstone, and oil. I have also been making less than the best stuff and selling it on the bazaar for 6k each and sell out about twice a day(also wp on food name to help bring in more people). I'm making items not on the "A" list right now veghash, synthsteak, air cake, working on blue milk and spice tea. I've also found that the key to getting by when the spawns are cold is buying furniture, trust me on this

Nope, but the clock's ticking.

The old man will pop by and see you again (many take as long as the first time, may be a lot shorter)
