As one of the newest Master Chefs in the Galaxies, I have gotten a lot of help from the info on these boards. This patch was a godsend and we all owe you a great debt.

Go with the force, Sir Vimes!

And boy do I feel sorry for the one to follow you!

Thank you for all the work you've done to make Chefs awesome.

Out of curiosity, if you keep playing, which servers would you be frequenting?

Dear SirVimes,

I just wanted to let you know that your work with the Chef profession, and in particular your incredibly detailed, concise, and FRIENDLY information here in the Chef forum continues to stand out in my mind. When I became curious about Chefs and the upcoming revamp, I was floored with how much was right there at the top, sorted and easily accessed. It took me mere minutes to learn everything I needed to know, AND get a good Sloppy Joe recipe.

I hope you enjoy getting back to just plain old playing the game, and again, from a profession jumping psuedo-powergamer, Thank You for all your hard work. I for one really appreciated it Whomever comes after has some big ol' shoes to fill!

I'm not even a chef, but I know you've done your job with passion and humor and you are a shining example to all other correspondents that patience, eventually, will pay off.

Good luck and have fun.

/salute papa smur...err papa chef.

Thank you for doing such a great job SV. You have been a blessing to all chefs past, present and future and rarely do you come across people that work as hard for something with as much passion as you have.

Enjoy your break!

I will miss you.

SirVimes, You are the best correspondent I have ever met, and hell I'm in guild with one AND was a ranger before the revamp (that corr. was pretty awesome). Your passion and love for chef is so great, and I am still honored to have been in your home shop for a drink. I will miss your guidance and leadership, just happy I still have other means of communications.

Will miss your hard work (at least the product of your past work will be with us for a long time). Let's hope the next correspondant has the same amount of vigour and personality as you.. Especially in regards to the DEV side of things (and interacting with them on our behalf)

*two thumbs up*

Well, guys, the time has come. I am going to be stepping down as correspondent.

The reasons I am stepping down have nothing to do with anybody. It has nothing to do with developers or people on the forums. Actually, those are the things that have kept me here as long as I have. It has nothing to do with the revamp except that the timing is right.

The reason I am stepping down are because:

A) I just need a break. I need to play the game for a while instead of trying to test everything.

B) When the correspondent program first started up, Q had said: In the interest of well-rounded feedback, once a month we may select a new correspondent. Well, it’s now 8 months later. To be honest, I don’t think a 1 month rotation is workable. You need to be a correspondent for at least 4 months to have any effect. Still, I think a rotation is a good idea to get that rounded feedback. My personal feelings on the issue are that a correspondent should come in with five top issues. When those issues have been addressed, they should step down and make room for somebody with another list of top five issues. I think that is fair to both the community and the correspondent.

And with this revamp, my top five issues have been addressed. (And, of course, there are now completely new issues that need addressing.)

Honestly, I don’t want to step down. I was there the very first day of beta. (That first day, only movement and emotes were working. Shug Ninx, Caella and I were standing on a hill on Tatooine practicing emotes at each other.) I believe I can honestly say I have been more involved with the development of this game than any other non-SOE/Lucas Arts employee. So I do intend to be back in some role. Maybe I will try for chef correspondent again after other people have had a go at it. Or maybe I will find another correspondent position. Who knows? But I ain’t going nowhere. (Yes, I know, double negative. Did it for flavor.)

So, anyway, I am stepping down. I was planning on staying until the first, but with the timing of things that might not be possible. I know there are a lot of people on these boards who will do a great job.

Its great that you aren't quitting SirVimes...but its also sad that you're stepping down.

one thing tho, just so we can avoid any possibility of chefs fighting/jockeying for position to become a correspondent...could you maybe nominate a few people...not that they would be the only choices, but perhaps just publicly suggest a few names, maybe 3 or 4.

well the opposite could be true too...it might be where no one wants to follow someone who did as great a job as you did, and well anyone you suggest would gain a lot of confidence just knowing you thought they could do a good job.

just a thought...mainly to distract me from all these long time chefs leaving/moving/stepping down...
