It's coming, it's coming. The developers are being a little gunshy about releasing information until they are sure it won't be changing....but it's coming.

Actually, I put in a request for this when I first learned they were going to be going over everything. I haven't heard anything about it since.

Actually, SirVimes has told us more than you may realize just with this one sentence: "Our food is going to effect everybody, so we are fairly high up on the list of priorities."

This means one of three things.

1) SirVimes is wrong (or at least greatly overexaggerating).

2) Chefs will be affecting more than just stats.

3) The devs are completely redesigning crafting so that one's stats affect their profession.

Food has zero impact on crafters at this time, because one's stats do not affect the crafter. One could argue that Sampling uses stats, but that's such a small point because most crafters don't sample by hand. Same goes for Surveying - I'll grant you that more crafters Survey than Sample, but I have a hard time believing that food is needed to help anyone with Surveying (at least prior to #2 going into affect).

I would bet #2 is the current plan. SirVimes, I'm guessing you've been sworn to secrecy, so I hope your statement hasn't violated your agreement. Their is "wiggle" room in what you said so its not like you actually told us that food will affect more than stats.

Bingo!

3) it is, food will probably be like temporary be tissues (i.e. boosts to skills), in particular because of the changes to the HAM system and HAM regeneration. Take a closer look at that and try and see just where food as it stands now would fit in that schema.

I'm amazed SirVimes hasn't exploded trying to keep the secret on what is in store for chefs.. I know I would. heh. And that's why he is the Chef Correspndent. Hope we see the changes soon so we can all discuss how great chefs are!

I hate to play Devil's advocate here...

SirVimes, I am a regular reader and poster on the Chef forum.

I have seen your posts for over a month now saying "something exciting is coming but I can't tell you what".

I don't know how to say this without it coming outwrong, so please don't read a flame into this.

But, could you please possibly lay off the updates until you CAN tell us something?

I don't want to nitpick, and I think you are doing an awesome job as always. I know you are getting pressure from some players to give updates you don't really have yet, but it is very disheartening to us regulars who know something is coming, but have no idea when to expect it.

I would love to share your excitement (and I did for about a week or so, until I realized this last patch would again contain no Chef love), believe me, but I am just unable to withouta "when".

When will you be able to tell us something?

Why the incessant need to protect us from the fact that "the plan" may change?

Why not illicit our input?

Once again, this was really intended to be constructive (I promise), but to also pass along my (and possibly the collective) frustration of not knowing what to expect and when to expect it.

Standard Disclaimer: Yes, I know SirVimes does not have the ability to give us this without the DEVs blessing. To anyone thinking aboout flaming me, re-read my post and think about what I'm trying to say.

Thanks,

Cyene

For one thing, take a look at this post. It was posted over a month ago. Secondly, I have not been bringing it up much...other people have been doing it for me.

I mean, other than answering people's questions (or saying I don't have any answers) what updates are you talking about?

Although, honestly, if I had known it was going to take this long to get stuff out to you, I wouldn't have been as hyped so early...

Ooh. Im guilty of mis-reading the date. Thought you just made a new post. *blushes* Let's hope the patches come out a month sooner then, since your post is a month old. But as you have said SirVimes, it's better if we were worked on fully instead of a half-done job that would just get us chefs even more peeved..

But you cannot deny, chefs are starting to get known for having workable buffs at least, most can't keep up with their orders.. That's a good thing (for the chefs) in regards to not having to keep stock.

Actually just getting an update from a correspondent saying "No news this week. I will let you know as soon as i do". Is fine with me. Thats communication and it lets us know where we stand.

Cool, SirVimes. I would have hoped that a dev would have thought of that when the profession was first made. I mean... a cake without eggs in it? Come one! Eggs and milk were both not released in the initial release of the game, but milk still made it into recipes, but not eggs. Weird. Thanks for requesting it though. I really do hope some schematics require eggs. I won't feel like I'm just using them because I can.

SirVimes,

Yah I thought this was a new post as well, I do apologize.

I would imagine that explains me thinking "wow, it seems like he keeps posting the same thing."

But looking at your response I think you understand what I meant, even if you don't entirely agree.

Thanks, and keep the pressure up on those DEVs. I think it would be a travesty for them to spring these changes on us on TC before even giving us the chance to comment.

No problem.

Question for you, just out of curiosity...keeping in mind this post is old, do you still think I am carrying on about it too much? Since I posted this, I don't think I have done another thread about it, although when other people ask me about it I answer. At least that is my perception. Just curious about what yours is.
