Thread: Difficulty as a Novice Chef
I never considered Artisan to be a grind. I had a lot of enjoyment making K-18 Rations, Caf and weapon powerups. It's satisfying to roll out a +32% damage weapon powerup because you know it's something that someone can use and enjoy.
I got through all of Domestic I - IV mostly by doing weapon powerups. Good ones. That people would actually pay for. Not a grind at all.
But now I get to Chef and there's nothing to do but make crap. Novice Chef foods are a disgrace, and will likely continue to be a disgrace until I jump up a couple levels on the experimentation tree, in addition to getting Mixology I or II at least so I have something decent to experiment WITH. Even an experimented meat lump just isn't going to be much better than Domestic foods.
Every artisan class should have something (like weapon powerups) that are good and useful fodder to level up with. The "grind" only exists when you have nothing useful to make.
Pecos,
After lots of failures I can make a meatlump that gives +101 Constitution for 279s. Not bad I think. All I have is Novice Chef. Of course I can only make one of those about every 13-15 attempts, but it meets my standards as good food.
True I can easily make fantastic Ruby Bliel,Starshine Surprise, and Teltier Noodles that surpass the Meatlump, but they do not enhance Constitution, so it is a good addition to my menu.
I'm finding that with all my failures it makes the one Success that much more exciting! It can be done, just takes a bit more work.
Notice my tone has changed since I played last night. ![]()
