I've got the lvl 65 veractyl and have levelled it a few times - he has 4 open ability slots and 90 trainable points. However, I've been unable to train him in any of the couple abilities I've learned (lvl 2 eye gouge and lvl 1 imperiling feint). I figured this might just be a bug with mounts, so I tried the same with a couple other pets, not quite as many lvls but still enough for at least a lvl 1 skill. They just don't appear under abilities - is there something I'm not doing? Or is there some trick to this? I created an open ticket and simply got a response telling me to report it as a bug. Anyone else have the same thing happening to them? If it has anything to do with server, I am on Kauri.

Also - I added this as a followup on a post by someone else, but I'll throw it in there again. I know when you give a pet to someone else, the new master cannot learn any abilities from that pet. However, is it possible for open ability slots and unspent ability points to transfer over?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've been making sure they have enough ability slots open and training points (4 and 90 should be more than sufficient for a lvl 1). After that, checking the radial menu where the ability would be if they were born with it - shouldn't new abilities that can be learned appear there? If not there, is there somewhere else it should appear, or some other hidden training menu?

Are you using the radial menu option "train"? The window you get from thatis only for setting up voice commands for normal abilities (group, attack, etc) and triggered commands the pet already knows.

To teach the pet new commands, you need to use the /trainpet (can be shortened to just /train or even /trai) slash command when the pet is targeted. This will bring up a window with the list of abilities you know that can be taught to the pet.

The list will not show any abilities that the pet already knows, and I don't think it'll show the L2 abilities until the pet already knows the L1 version. Any abilities that have a cost higher than the pet's current "training points" will be greyed out.

Once you've taught the pet the ability, if it's a triggered ability (requires a voice command, like Knockdown or eye gouge), then it'll show up on the command list when you use the "train" radial menu on the pet.

Does that help at all?

Actually, that does help a ton. I didn't know you could do it that way - kept trying to go through the radia menu. Thanks for the help.

AFAIK, you have to do it that way to train your pet new abilities. I don't think there's a radial menu or window button to go into the "teach new ability" window...

Actually, I take that back. Just checked in-game, there's a "train pet" button in the "other" tab of the macro/command window (ctrl-O), which does the same thing as the /train slash command.
