LOL welcome perma...holo...master-chef...err whatever... ![]()
My best advice is don't expect to get rich right away...there are many who make a good living at being a chef...others who do it just to feed their PA (some of us do both). Luckily we are still rare enough as a profession that competition shouldn't be much of an issue...but be sure to spend time getting good resources for your foods and work with your customers (educate them about food). I have found that most people like talking to the person from whom they buy at least once. ![]()
Things got busy in the entertainer group and she was forgotten. About 3 hours later, I noticed that she was still at it. It struck me... I said, in group, "Um... do you think that she thinks she's getting XP with that afk macro?" All chatter stopped for a long moment, and everyone in the group busted out laughing.
She came back about an hour after that... someone in the group asked her how the dance xp was. She left the cantina crawling on her hands and knees because she was so embarassed.

You know..in that situation I might have chuckled to myself..when I discovered what the girl was doing..and that she maybe hadn't read up on how to gain dance exps. Then I would have set about trying to inform her of the right way to go about it. Who knows...maybe some day she would be yet another entertainer/performer who would take up our anti-bot anti-afk cause? Not sure what you guys did about the situation ..other than make her feel foolish and uncomfortable...due to your "superior" knowledge?
I have had many many occasions to lead a full group..yes 20 at a time..of musicians and entertainers some newbies some not, I have trained them..coached them..and when they couldn't figure out why they weren't getting exps, informed them about flourishing..and where to find the handy SOE supplied macros for their hotbars. Please be kind to new entertainers...they after all, look up to the rest of us that have already done the thousands of flourishes to get where we are. Please deserve that respect..and be kind ..most of all.

I have to agree with Cir'Ces on this one. It really is important to nurture our newer entertainers, especially when they're doing things that obviously won't work. One way or the other, they are part of our future.
That being said, I'd have laughed myself silly behind the keyboard.

How long did it take to /addignore her? I am betting not much longer than a fast /tell to help her understand....she may never return to that cantina after that and possibly may even drop the profession.
Take the time to help them understand. Answer their questions, train them, and make a new friend. Entertainer is a social profession.
Making fun and putting them down will accomplish nothing constructive. Never forget, you were new once too...after over a year (joined forums late) I still remember that feeling, pehaps it is best to never forget that.

I have lead many maxed member entertainer groups, for entire evenings until server reset. Yet, I still have found as much time as required to help any new player I see.

First of all... she was afk and spamming the so and so dances around the joint emote line for over an hour. That's why I put her on ignore, so I didn't have to keep seeing it. Secondly, if she had been at her keyboard, I most certainly would have helped her. I have been a master dancer for over a year and have gone way out of my way to help new entertainers. You don't know me and I find it very irritating that you can make a judgement about how I treat most newbies by my first post in this thread.
If you'll notice, *I* didn't say anything to her. As much as people flame on and on about buffbots and afk macroers, forgive me if I thought that some of you might be amused.
And to be blunt, if she's thin-skinned enough that she never returns to a cantina or drops the profession over this, then she's certainly not going to be able to take the abuse that customers will give her during her career.
As far as her age? If she managed to write the macro, and managed to wear a patterned slip dress with matching shoes and lekku wrap, I'm going to assume that she might be intelligent or mature enough to turn on said macro and make sure the xp is coming in before she leaves her keyboard for over 4 hours. The droids are pretty good at training new players, if you try them out.
It was just one of those odd things that struck a chord. Pun intended.
