Thread: possible new best sellers, compared to what we have now
I have had a chef toon since the beginning. Yet it was months before I had the material together to really maximize the potential of my recipes. Only recently have I started making a BE enhanced glazed glucose pate that has become a best seller. Without a complete character copy along with my ingredients to test center, there is no way in my view to judge the merit of these recipes and how they will fit into gameplay.
At this point, I feel the changes are worrisome at best, yet here they come, ready or not.
What will happen to existing stacks of food made from the old recipes? I have a substantial inventory built up. Should I be having a pre-patch blow-out sale or squirrling stuff away like vintage wine from a very good year?
It only works on XP gains that show up on the screen. Killing things, Scouting things, Playing tunes, teaching people. The ones that bring up a system message syaing "You have gained ?? XP"

I am a BoH/Ryschate user. I get +550 and 1 use from the BoH and about +400 and 2 uses from the Ryschate, for a total buff or +1350.

Asthe new BoHis listed, I can get +246 * 4, or approximately +1000 from the new BoH. This is worse, but it is still good. But this was made with average resources, no BE help, and the 44/26/17/18 distribution was probably not optimized. If you could get it to be +275 with 20 filling (5 uses), then the net buff would be +1375, which is slightly better than before.
Espo99 wrote:You are all missing something here: however good these new buffs may be none of them are practical. People are NOT going to buy this crap. Our best sellers were mind buffs - Fishak, Glazed Gucose and Bivoli. Also, anything that upped the secondaries like BoH and Ryshcate. Without this type of buff, the demand for Chef food will all but dry up. There are so many new "little" buffs that are so "specific" to a toon's needs. There is no way to be able to produce all these different buffs, keep them in stock and make a profit. We will get some special orders at first and then that will be it. Thanks DEVs for doing something that nobody ever thought possible - NERFING CHEF!!

the important thing to realize is this:
chefs aren't using the "best" resources to make these test samples...they just grabbed whatever they could find that matched the schematic...and in many cases didn't even experiment on them...and just coppied the result from TC to these forums. of course BoH with mediocre materials isn't going to match up with the BoH we make now with really good materials...
there also haven't been many posts about food with BE additives either...and while it shouldn't be that we NEED BE additives just to make what we can now...if using one can make a better product than what we have now, I guess that'd be ok. they also took out the advanced alchohols, and experimenting on subcomponents...so of course thats going to affect the results.
overall as I think about it more and more...the PvP crowd is going to feel that the damage reducing foods are better than BoH...and since dancers/mucisians can give better mind buffs that last for a lot longer...and we can reduce the time it takes for that...combat professions aren't going to be hurting that much.
sales per customer may go down a bit...but I think thats going to be more than offset by the new markets we're gaining (dancers/mucisians...and crafters)...oh and lets not forget wookies...that can finally have "armor"...even tho they have to eat it.

But! You only need to have exploration 1 now. Before, the higher you climbed up the tree, the more terrain negotiation bunuses you got (ie the faster you went up the hills). Now you don't have to go all the way up the exploration tree and have the same effect.

From whatI remember reading, this only adds to Terrain negotiation skill, it doesn't GIVE the skill. So if you drop scout, this food will have no effect on you.

The Artisan foods only buff a single stat, chef foods multiples (but only in certain combinations). Artisan foods only take light BE additives, chef foods can take mediums or heavies. My guess is that with the revamp, Artisan chefs will have a viable market, as opposed to on Live where every single artisan food is eclipsed by some chef-level food. The HAM foods will useful when a player needsa single stat buffed (I'm thinking these will be the new armorlube along with BoH). Some foods have effects that are unique to Artisan: +terrain negotiation, +wookie roar, DoT time reduction. And they'd only need to have Engineering IV and Dom Arts IV to make the best food possible, unless Master Artisan got a bonus to Experimentation in the new publish (they don't on Live).
I find it interesting that the (I think) artizan foods (like Bofa Treats, Blob Candy) are the ones that may be buffing HAM most. As I calculate it, a person with domestics 2 could buff Health & Action by about +400 for 40 full minutes. That's not bad. But conversley there's nothing that a master chef can make that compares (closest would be Garrmorl at about a +300 buff).
I guess it will be back to selling "any buff is better than no buff". Hopefully master artizans won't have an edge over the chef for straight HAM buffs... (or am I misunderstanding degredation?)
