Thread: MILK AND EGGS!
The problem with factories is their produce is unsellable, as they dont come out in stacks. In an ideal world, you'd experiment a food to its max(take a few attempts), make a schematic, and stuff it in the factory, and a few hours later(without grinding) you get 100 more of these well experimented items. I know that I'd invest in one straight away as a novice chef to make money because you'd no longer a) be grinding, and b) be destroy'ing all the **edit**ty experiments as most chefs are doing now. (they cost 1200 maint a day. 2-3 delivery missions. Completed in 15-20 minutes normally. Anyone that can afford to keep harvesters running can afford one to make more consistently better quality produce. You also start needing them to make some second tier foods)
Anyway, I digress, since my opinion clashes with that of most of the people posting here.
Larger flora farms being craftable would be very nice, but if people are in such financial straits, how the hell will you afford one? The current res costs will make a medium(with only 2*more production, and 2 times more costs) cost 50K or so depending on server. The large is even worse.
Milk and eggs are a major issue.
I dont honestly thing our balancing is that badly done... Main problem is, it'll take a while for people to understand chef buffs. I have people coming back to me regularly for more than just sunburn, but only a very small number of clients in general. Also, we dont have to complete with smugglers and doctors. All our buffs stack. In a random experiment we got one of our guild members some monstrous stats(3K health, 4K strength stamina, etc... I dont remember much, but he'd have made a great tank now thatCH's and probots are being nerfed)a couple of days ago, with a combined set of buffs. The only problem is that novice smuggler spices are too good, and the spice tree is too easy to go up. But I know everyone will disagree with me since its obvious that when most other novice elite artisans(mousebots(useless)? Dl44's(a experimented CDEF is way better)? HAH. The only decent novice elite artisan item I can think of is mabari armor)are useless we shouldn't be. All novice elite artisans should be better, but so long as they're balanced(which novice smuggler sadly isn't) I'm happy. Try talking to some other elite crafters and ask them about how useful they are at novice level.
Following is irrelevant to the topic itself, but related to some peoples comments:
Anyone that wants to make food that actually is any good should go up the cooking tree. Same rule applies to all crafter professions. A weaponsmith that can make a laser rifle, but that cant experiment it at all makes a worse weapon then one that only has one slot ofgunsmithing and 3 of experimentation. The same thing applies to all artisan classes AFAIK. Basically, its a matter of patience:reward. I'd recommend any budding chef ever hoping to make good buffs to go mixology II for money first(you wont sell anything other than sunburn for a good while, I promise you that), and once you've done that go straight up the cooking tree. Of course that's just my method for making the best buffs... if you want to make **edit**ty buffs forever(leaving cooking till last), be my guest...
