Hey everyone. I recently obtained Novice Chef, and I've been scouting all the resource shifts and shops for any chef foods that might help me out once I Master. The only problem is, I'm not sure what resources I need

So, what types of resources are used often in Chef foods? Waters? Berries? Cereals? Also, I have some water that's been collecting dust in my basement for a while, it's stats are 846 DR and 1000 OQ...Could I use this in any of my products?

Youll need LOADS of cereal (wheat/oats). Cereal is a base resource in things such as alcohol, carbosyrup - all of which are needed in various foods. The most common foods use fruits/berries/vegetables/oats/wheat. There are more specific resources too, but these are the most commonly used ones.

First things first stock up as much uber Berries and Fruit as you possibly can. The stuff that goes in to the subcomponents stats don't matter on, so you can easily find/harvest any junk resources for that. After you get as much Berries and Fruit as possible move on to some other resources like Carnivore Meat and Greens. Fruit and Berries will get you able to make Brandy and Canape, then just take a look at what you want to make next and get the resources for it.

OK, that's cool. My friend gave me 100000 units of some decent berries that he had stored away, and I'm currently mining Llosie, which had some stats in the 800's and 900's. It hasn't been reported on swg craft though, so I'm hoping that it isn't that old yet, I want to horde this stuff like crazy

My big concern is getting the grinding materials. I have the numbers of what I need and I've been searching everywhere for it, but coming up short

In my experience, the quality resources for chef foods last a long time while the grind-quality resources are used up rapidly. Chef seems far more difficult if you focus on your quality resources and leave yourself struggling to make your subcomponents. I suggest setting yourself up to always have large quantities of wheat, preferably domesticated so you can make sweet cake mix as well as dough and alchohol, crystalline gemstone, and water. Buying your grind-quality resources can kill youwhile buying your quality resources won't set you back much with how long they last.

That water you have is great for thakitillo, rakririan burnout sauce, pikatta pie, cavaellian creams, and 8 less popular foods.

There's no answer to your question, really. It is completely random. Sometimes you'll get an uber spawn and the next is even better. Sometimes, you can wait for six months for a given resource to spawn at all. (Just ask CMs on infinity). If you see ANYTHING good - stockpile. You can always sell it off, if you find even better stuff.

Hugs,

Aph/Infinity.

none are any good? You haven't been paying attention. Here's just what's in spawn right now:
Ebipevot, Lokian Flower Fruit (Entered By JoleWavinglighter / Not Verified)
DR=376, FL=833, PE=630, OQ=867

PE on flowers is capped at 700, so these are pretty good.

Oparck, Rori Berry Fruit (Entered By fozzieBear / Not Verified)
DR=901, FL=528, PE=873, OQ=725

Asiw, Tatooinian Fruit (Entered By fozzieBear / Verified by Nohr)
DR=988, FL=734, PE=910, OQ=857

Eukloth, Dantooine Vegetable Tubers (Entered By Toewike / Verified by Reyudo)
DR=631, FL=744, PE=869, OQ=987

Ybo, Nabooian Vegetable Tubers (Entered By fozzieBear / Not Verified)
DR=818, FL=70, PE=923, OQ=585

Asesob, Rori Vegetable Beans (Entered By fozzieBear / Not Verified)
DR=176, FL=586, PE=993, OQ=626

Now, not all of those resources are perfect (though a couple are damn good), but a just-starting Chef should be more than happy with any of them. There have been a number of recent spawns that have been worth minimg to me, and I've got a year's worth of stockpile to compare them against. Go place your harvs, man.

As for what I do when there are no good spawns (as opposed to now) is try to find a high OQ wood (like the 985 tat deciduous that just shifted) for use in BE additives of mine up grinding cereals or something that goes into your subcomponents like alcohol. Once you've got a decent stockpile there'll be times when your harvesters just sit in your backpack, but the majority of the time there's something worthwhile out there.

ok so i mastered chef a month ago and made myself a 12 point. i bought some resources and my sales have been good, however i am running low on resources and the vendors that i bought them from don't stock anymore. i have been monitoring the flora resources on my server(bria) for the last month and nothing good has spawned since then. my question from the more experienced chefs is this: how often do resources like berries, fruits, greens, flowers etc... spawn that are worth harvesting and make brandy, ahrisa and canape from? does it take like 6 months for a good spawn or like 2 months? what do you guys do when you are out of resources and there are no good spawns? any help would be appreciated. please don't reply if you are going to tell me go read the FAQ and blah blah blah, i have already read it. thanks

Looking for resources for me is a constant thing. I am always one factory run away from being out of something, I always tend to find something that is good enough to use. You really need to find a dedicated resource dealer who will tell you when good things you want are in spawn. and buy him out of that stuff.
