O wholeheartedly agree that grinding isn't fun to ME. I ground my way from novice to Mix 1 VERY SLOWLY, and only because I don't MAKE food, i ONLY make drinks. I am a BARTENDER. I am NOT your precious Allice form the bradybunch. You want a meal, go bug Duniel, he's got entrees. You want to get effed up? Talk to me. Well, Charde's don't GET you effed up, they heal your mind...thats no fun. So..mini grind here, mini grind there, and WHAMMO, Corellian Ales, ooo, Bantha Blasters, oooo, Deutrium-Pyro(sits on tables!) ooooo! Ahhh...the good life. I'm about a 3rd of the way to Mix 2, and as a resident of corellia, I can't WAIT to get Corellian Brandy.

Speaking of Ale, do you Tattoine and Naboo residents get REAL Corellian Domesticated for YOUR Corellian Ales? Or do you just use your own hometowns cruddy wheat. I want you to know that I get MY wooly hides from all natural Banthas for my BB's and all natural Jawa for my JB's. Non of that preserved Jawa crud. You get PULP in my Jawa-beer.yum.

Its the journey thats important not the destination. It's nice to see I'm not alone in playing this way.

In all my time in game from Beta to live I have never destroyed a single item. Ive never ground and always either sold, given away or use my foood and drink.

THe one thing that trew me was reaching novice chef, Becasue the chef profesion doesn't build on the artisan tree, i.e. you don't get food xp for the stuff in the dom arts line, its like starting again. All the food in novice chef is worse than the stuff in Dom Arts IV, this means you basicaly have to grind up it as why would anyone want the stuff from novice chef when the stuff from the Dom Arts line is better.

So I've just stoped making Chef food untill they fix this issue in a balance pass.

I would love to see chef build on what you acheived in Dom Arts because as it stand now if you don't grind you will never make it up the chef tree. Ive had novice chef food in my vendor im my cantina for a week and noe of its sold, my Dom arts stuff is flying out the door but no one wants the crap i can make in novice chef.

Hopefully this will be fixed soon, in the mean time i'm off doing some adventuring with my droid and serving my customers quality drinks and food from Dom Arts IV.

I just wanted to share...

This weekend I hung out in the same cantina, and made about 20,000 credits and a few thousand exp. by not grinding.

All my food was consumed by players (not pets) and none was practiced on. I do have to thank Rax for the 10,000 credit tip...to keep a certain Twi'lek dancer drunk on Lokian bloodwine for an hour. She was so hopped up on Moun Gold that she didn't know she was just drinking Charde.

RP'ing a chef is soooo much more fun than grinding.

Just made novice chef myself last week and I have to agree.

Ruby Bliels are better than the Chardre (sp) most of the time...but when I experiment the Chef one up (with my two measely points!) and it ends up good...what a feeling!

I'm actually having a hard time keeping my NPC Bartender (in my place), our sales vendor at Club Nordock (my buds and I bought a large house together) and the Bazaar stocked with stuff.

My quandry...do I get Mix 1 (because I do want to wear the title Master Bartender some day) or Cookling 1 first? (for the extra experimentation) Now, one of my buds was buying a Food/Chem station with a very good bonus...haven't had a chance to use it yet and if it's good enough, I'll expand my recipe selection first.

I can't grind. Not in me. But I'm now a **edit** good shot with an FWG5 and my bowcaster and can play a fizz rather well. Not to mention a half dozen other skills I dabble in.

Hi Djen! Nice to meet a fellow Tarquinas chef I'm based out of Dearic/Talus myself.

It really is glad to know others feel the same way. I am really enjoying the roleplaying/immersiveness of playing a chef, and I spend very little time XP grinding each day.

My main funhas beendecorating and maintaining my little cafe on Dearic. I greet each customer, offer them a free sample, and then I dance to heal their mind wounds and BF while they shop. I want them to not only buy my food but have an enjoyable experience.

Each day is different -I might be hanging out at the cafe,catering a wedding reception, working on a special order, dancing at the cantina (I'm also a Choreographer), surveying for new resource sites, hunting for hides/meat/bone, or just hanging out with my in-game friends. And of course clothes shopping.

My XP comes mostly from making food to restock my vendors, although I do grind in short bursts while waiting for the shuttle,resting from battle, etc.

It truly is the journey not the destination. Think about all the folks that hit Master Chef a couple of days after the game began. Most of 'em are gone. I think the only ppl left on our server are the few folks like us who enjoy being a chef for its own sake.

I'm Joodah, a Carbineer Chef on Corbantis out of Corellia. I'm having a great time as well simply waiting for the xp that comes from normally paced food preperation... I did grind a bit with non-food items during the artisan-phase of heading up to Novice Chef, but now that there are good recipes to make, I have been having a blast trying to find just the right berries, wheat and other ingredients to mix up and combine to make stuff, alot of fun! I see myself as kind of like a gourmet chef who seeks out only the freshest and highest quality ingredients, which is why I have made the decision to mostly buy all of my resources. You see, as a Carbineer, I can go out on a few Lok missions and bring home 10-25k in very little time, and then go to the bazzar or some good farmers out there on various planets. This way, I get my combat xp, make money, and then support the growers and people out there finding this stuff. I in turn buy the best ingredients and prepare top notch items. I therefor mostly avoid having to spend alot of time surveying/sampling, though I love the occasional foray out onto the wilds of Talus to pick my own berries I've found, or discover a rich area of Wheat that can only be found there. It's a blast!

Give this chef thing time, everyone... People are still REALLY clueless about buffs, and once some time passes and people realize the value of our food and that they are stackable, and when we can all produce full banquets, people will come and we will do fine... Right now it's a great way to help out any combat group I'm in, giving out buffs to my PA, not to mention supplying myself for battles!

I'm very happey with the Chef profession, and if you have the opportunity to go hybrid, a strongly encourage being a Chef Rifleman/pistoleer/carbineer, it works out very well....

I'm so glad to see this thread. I've been making and selling items for awihle now and I'm so glad that others are enjoying doing things that they enjoy rather than grinding to get somehwere else.

I did a dinner party on Friday and it was a lot of fun. I'm getting exp, but getting those emails saying that someone bought my food is the best reward I could ask for.
