Thread: Bartenders Needed!
I was playing bartender last night...problem was I sold out of everything in like 15 minutes.
I was able to get some food, but I had to push it. "Hey, want some crispic with that? Good snack food."
Want a use for drinks other than buffs to provide a nice cantina atmosphere?
1) Show the drink in your hand
2) Let you only drink the cup at a table (and you're sitting down on the chairs...get people to use them!)
3) Drinks can speed up the healing process (with appropriate bonuses to dancers to make sure they don't lose the chance to get entertainment healing xp)
"1) Show the drink in your hand"
Yes! They can show a gun in your hand, why not a drink? That alone would add so much to the cantina atmosphere. some bartender animations would be cool too.
I roleplayed a bartender in the very wee hours (EST) this morning... very fun and people were suprised to see the drinks had an effect. I think if nothing else this is an avenue for education about the benefits of food/drink buffs. The dancers in particular could make use of them. I wish I only had more potent stuff...
Definitely need a crafting station in there for the casual bartender. Napkins would be good, bartender specific flourishes would be killa. This is a fun and easy thing to roleplay. I was even walking in to new customers as they sat, "Hi, can I get you anything?" "Sure," they'd say, "beer!" and be suprised when I said, "okay be right back."
I had commented several times on the need for a bartender, so last night I found some waterto sample and set to it. It turned out really well, though custom was a bit low. Giving drinks away or selling them really cheaply seems to help with the RP aspects, and I had a few orders of larger batches for adventurers looking for the buffing quality.
I think that bartending will probably be a "right place and right time" sort of experience, kind of like RPing a crafter instead of just standing in place saying nothing. Some servers and cities will have a larger group of people interested in RPing a party, and some will little to none. Still, if you have a crafting droid, RPing the bartender while crafting for the bazaar is still pretty fun, even if you don't move much product.
Heck, I haven't found the Food and Chemical station in Dearic yet anyway, so I'm not losing out on anything even without a droid. ![]()
Couldn't you just buy a droid with a food/chemical crafting station mod in it? I see that it does exist on the skill tree. You can always get an R4 unit or something and call him Busboy.
That is assuming that the mod is working correctly;I never actually bought a droid before.
I no longer bartend in the cantina in Tyrena , Bria. Reason?
I own my own cantina now
In the middle of a very prosperous town. Obos Ma'fey's T.A.B. SW of Tyrena.
Its small, but its my SWG dream come true.
I agree with the rest of you that bartending is hit or miss. It's especially frustrating at lower levels when you offer drinks and someone asks for a Corellian Whiskey or whatever, and the best you can make is a Caf! ![]()
Some suggestions I have, include giving different names to your drinks so they are a little more unique (as long as you don't purposely mislead anyone).
I just hit domestic IV so I'm anxious to see how my new menu will pan out.
Another suggestion would be to do a macro menu with all your available foods and their costs.
Can't wait till I can get my own cantina going... but that is a long-term dream I don't expect to achieve any time soon.
I am a low level bartender, I'm usualy in Kor-Vella (Eclipse)Usualy whenever someone wants something they buy like 10 of them so i have to craft for like 6h, but oh well. My best seller is actualy spice, I'm also a smuggler so i offer spice and that sells MUCH better than food or drink, so i sujest that all you chefs buy a stack of spice off the bazzar and sell that also.
And i agre, use a macro, I have one set up for introduction (/yell The bar is OPEN for business, I have something to drink, something to eat, and something more "illegal" ask and I'll say the menu.) So the people know why there is a psyco behind the bar, also everyone asks "whats Illegal?" Second have a menu macro! I use this system Name/what it is/cost (Apeda (drink) 200cr)
Say the bar open every time a couple of people come in, I'm actualy starting to get a coustomer base and profit!
