countering the effects of armor thats great lets make an entire profesion based on doing this!!!

A artisan can counter the effects of armor. Chef is supose to be the games best buffer the one that everyone should be hording for buffs ..

if chef was just supose to make crapy buffs then they really should really delete the profesion and make this just domestic arts 1-4

I am a Master Chef and a Master Combat Medic. I prefer as my chef to NOT have to go around healing. I think Chefs need to STAY as a buffing class. We already have two healers (Combat Medic and Doctor). I also like to stay AWAY from the battle when playing my chef. That is why I play her...to relax. I like making foods.

To make the chef more appealing, we do need better buffs. If it is true that it is just broken experimentation, then I hope that gets fixed. I would love to make greater buffs. I also think that the chefs need to have a say on reorganizing the Chef tree. Too many useless foods and drinks. Negative effects should also be removed from foods and drinks.

I don't think there'd be anything forcing you to go into a battle if you healed action. I'm a dancer and I've NEVER danced in a battle, and only once or twice in a camp.

If you want to keep buffing, be prepared for your class to die out, 'cosI become more convinced every daythat the average player doesn't even know what a buff is, and expecting them to figure out where to get the best buffs is well beyond their knowledge.

Since June 2004, running one of the game's first completely nonviolent characters. Testing the limits of non-combat MMORPG play and trying to have fun into the bargain (although the developers make it difficult).

Combat is no longer compulsory.

Hmm, I think you are missing the point. Most of us play Chef because we want to be THE buffing class, not a healer. Where you are mistaken is the average player DOES know about buffs, and they see the Chef ones are useless when compared to what they get from Doctors and Smugglers. We have the recognition, we just don't have anything to offer.

I agree with a previous poster that we Chefs don't need a fix that will effectively nerf other classes. We need to be what we are billed as...the buffer of SWG.

So what I am saying is I also categorically disagree with your assumtion that Chefs want or needto be an "Action Healer" to become useful. Quite the contrary, I want the buffs I currently have to be viable to make the healers' job easier.

"Supposed to be implies that it was part of the original design. The arguments of "that's all we do", or "the entire class is gear around..." do NOT imply this statement. For pure effect drugs trump food. For proof, you have an apple, I'll pop some PCP, we'll punch each other in the face. 99 times out of 100, I'll win. (even if you go first) We specialize, and perhaps should have the best breadth, but not the best in effect."

okay lets have you take PcP and dont eat .. lets see you would be dead in hmm 1 week from lack of nutrition?

Food in real life provides you with all 100% of your physical and mental energy , it also give you your Vitamins and Minerals.. If you want to know the effects of food and drink you should really take a course in Nutrition, and im sure your local comunity collage has the basic nutritional studies course.

Also PCP does not make you any stronger it attacks your CNS and and makes your brain unaware of the physical harm you are causing yourself. so you over exert your muscles and you dont feal pain. Not because you instantly became stronger but because your body has no limits . so basicly you destroy your self while you have a short high from a chemical reaction.

As I do not wish to quote, I will just refer to the points. You will, hopefully, identify those to which I refer.

If I'm buffing now, I'm not planning for fight next week. Nutrition, though delivered primarily through food, should not be confused with it, as anyone who had taken said class be able to tell you. (For the record, the only time I spent in a community college was as a guest lecturer, but I digress... It is entirely possible that the curriculum offered in such a school would differ from that which I was familiar with.)

Regarding PCP, you are half right, or, perhaps one third, depending on whether or not you are including the brain as part of the CNS or not. Removal of pain will enable many to achieve such a threshold, but no more than natural adrenalines can do. The difference between pain and actual physical damage to tissue, however, will vary from person to person, and is not readily assumed given any task.

The above notwithstanding, you have done little to refute my initial argument about chefs and buffing. In fact, in a small way, you have helped bolster it. A buff is, by defined game terms, to be a temporary improvement to one's character. Food, as you relate to nutrition, is a weaker, yet more permanent alteration. That is handled through stat migration.

(forgive me, all, for my choice of wording, but something about the CC comment just irked me. I know, as a Mensan, I should know better than to allow emotions turn a debate, but it's been a long day)

And ARE chefs getting better buffs?? I know that entertainers are. I fear that chefs aren't going to be the 'buffer class' of SWG while other classes are successfully arguing to enhance THEIR buffs.

Well I don't honestly think they are going to eliminate Chef as a profession....and at present all we do is buff.

Not to mention, they have promised us an entire re-balance of food. It's not so much that Chefs are discouraged that we won't be getting the fixes we desire, it's that we all feel it may be after the first expansion before we see them. And we don't have resing or healing or slicing to keep us busy in the meantime. The reason the other classes are successfully arguing is universal...the sqeakiest wheel gets the grease, and tehre are A LOT more of just about every other class than Chefs. We will be last to get fixed, we know it, why we are so gloomy.

Chefs *are" the buffing class of SWG (notice I didn't say "best" or "only") simply because we are the only class whose sole job is....well...buffing. IMHO that isn't really the issue. The issue is that even in a vacuum where Doctor and Smuggler buffs did not exist, 90% of our buffs would still suck due to stat repetition across recipesand poor durations (notwithstanding the experimentation bugs).

Don't get me wrong, I understand your intentions are noble, and I appreciate that. But I WANT to be the Chef they designed...I want to be a buffer...and I want my proefession to have a specific and originalspace to fill within the SWG universe. If things are so far gone that they have toswitch us to some type of healer hybrid, I personally will give up Master Chefand move to another profession.
