Thread: I saw some Spice on sale yesterday...
Don't despair though. Spices are stackable with food and drink. Spices are separate from food, even though the stupid Bazaar lists it as food. You can take spiceAND consume food, say air cake, atthe same time and both will stack. Even better it'll all stack with doctor buffs too. So if you want to be super hard to kill, get doctors to buff you, spice to drug you up, and food and drink to keep you full. It's quite sick. I actually thought it didn't stack with each other but it does so that's real good, so now we all get to share the market with other professions. I must admit though, the buff numbers on food and drink still suck but hey, I'm still going to be chef anyway unless sales are deplorable. They also have a HIGH rate of consumption than any other item out there so we could make 100 items of stuff that can get consumed at a rate ofa few minutes per item. More power and cash to us, or at least hopefully in the future, me =)
I'll post this in a new thread so others will know of this common misconception.
The problem is limitations. There is a limit on how many items you can carry in your inventory. With only being able to hold 110 objects in inventory people are going to want as many as the most effective buffs as they can get. Therefore if a character is strapped on inventory space they will most likely choose spice over food because its a one shot deal where they get a very large buff for a good duration. Compared to the current (pitiful) state of food buffs a good majority of players will not choose the food unless they have a lot of space and/or need more buffs than spice can provide.
Another limitation is the amount of money in the market. Sure, money is not that hard to come by, but when a person is buying an item that will only last them a few minutes they will not be willing to pay a large amount of money for these things. Also with many of the other money drains in the economy a middle/lower class player will only buy the most effective buff.
Yet again another limitation is time. A person looking for a quick fix (and more effective) will look more to drugs than to food if they want to get their shopping done quickly and get in the field. Most people in general don't want to be shopping for 30min to an hour looking for buffs. I believe that most will look for the biggest and best numbers and buy a large quantity if they can find it.
Like others have said the biggest challenge is educating the players to show them that a well balanced diet of buffing items is the best, but I believe that many will choose the drugs/spice more often than the food because of the bigger numbers, longer durations, cheap resrouce (and very generic resrouces). Hopefully when the devs address the number 1 issue on the list, this point will become mut. But for right now we are a dedicated class to buffing others but are the worst at doing it.
