Chef Archive
Thread: E-Mail from Xahn (nothing new)
Thanks Dacia!
One thing I am pushing for right now is that if they only want 1 chef report a month instead of 1 a week, that we give them our top 10 lists, not our top 5.
my only question is...
Why are we doing all of this hard work and still paying? You guys released FAR too early...
Best way to thank us....eat the monthly charge until your crap is fixed. This game is 40% broken.
*sorry gang, that was for sony, not you. no doubt my voice will go unheard*
Remember, the devs already got the game delayed nearly an year(or was it even more? I'm not totally sure), so the suits wanted this out now. There was only so much delay they could get.
Once the game reached a state where most people would stay, they had to put it on shelves. The dropping rate has been very low. Many of you may be complaining, but how many of you have left? I've seen a couple of people say "Enough is enough, I'm leaving" but only a few have actually done it.
Hmmmm.... no eggs or milk? Our Designer must have high cholesterol and be lactose intolerant
.
Cool to hear SirVimes. Thanks for keeping us updated.
nothing new. as i excepted.
when i mastered chef and theres no fix live or even in development after 2 months of live feedback and 3 months of beta feedback.
well .. there nothing new... account canceled
Oh... never mind....
SirVimes,
great job annoying them enough to get a response
I think you should push for the ability to forward a replacement issue if the Devs have to reject one or two as too difficult to work on atm. Forexample, take factories not producing items with multiple uses. Say the Devs come back and say.'Yes this is a valid issue but we would have to recompile all the code for the whole game to get it to work' (obviously an exaggeration). Try to get the option to put forward another issue in our Top 10 to replace one that they are going to shelve (hopefully this won't be necessary). At least then we won't lose the chance to get an issue looked into.

Now, now....if that was true our profession would be a LOT more interesting!
I remember when they explained one time about what was making a lot of lag, the thing about CHs and their pets getting stuck between two servers so the servers had to work double time to compute one thing.
And I was just thinking YAY useful information, could this be the start of a new era of Dev -customer relations, sadly it was not and things went back to "Yes, we are currently fixing that please bare with us"
Just please tell us why it is so fundamentally hard to go in to the db and change
Ithorian Mist +50 action -140 mind 90s
to
Ithorian Mist +150 action -140 mind 190s
Or something similar.
Or why can't you make farms produce milk when I hear they could in beta.
Or why can't you make factories produce food with more then one bite.
There are probably deep underlying problems that make it difficult to fix. But for the haven's sake what are they!
Sorry for the rant.

I can answer this one. The db doesn't work like that. Food is based on quality of resources. So all those numbersare based on an equation. Fuddling with one aspect of the equation might screw up other parts. Its like dealing with a complex, three line Excel formula. You screw up one number and it all falls apart.
I highly doubt the Databaseentry readsIthorian Mist: Action = 50.
I suspect its more Ithorian Mist: Action = 40%ResourceQualityA + 40%ResourceQualityB+ 30%ResourceNutritionA/ Quality of Crafting Tool + Quality of Crafting Station * Skill Rating / Random Number.
This is before adding in experimentation, which alters the numbers still more.
Simply adding a one somewhere isn't going to cut it. You have to take apart the whole equation, tinker with it, balance it, and put it back together to see it if worked. That takes time.
