Thread: Stepping down as correspondent.
I want to offer my thanks for all the long, hard work you have put in as our correspondant, I don't think any other correspondant comes close to you in your dedication to a profession and it's players.
I sincerely hope you stay active on the forumsm and hope you have a great time actually PLAYING the game
Your successor has some damned big boots to fill.

Well, guys, the time has come. I am going to be stepping down as correspondent.
The reasons I am stepping down have nothing to do with anybody. It has nothing to do with developers or people on the forums. Actually, those are the things that have kept me here as long as I have. It has nothing to do with the revamp except that the timing is right.
The reason I am stepping down are because:
A) I just need a break. I need to play the game for a while instead of trying to test everything.
B) When the correspondent program first started up, Q had said: In the interest of well-rounded feedback, once a month we may select a new correspondent. Well, it’s now 8 months later. To be honest, I don’t think a 1 month rotation is workable. You need to be a correspondent for at least 4 months to have any effect. Still, I think a rotation is a good idea to get that rounded feedback. My personal feelings on the issue are that a correspondent should come in with five top issues. When those issues have been addressed, they should step down and make room for somebody with another list of top five issues. I think that is fair to both the community and the correspondent.
And with this revamp, my top five issues have been addressed. (And, of course, there are now completely new issues that need addressing.)
Honestly, I don’t want to step down. I was there the very first day of beta. (That first day, only movement and emotes were working. Shug Ninx, Caella and I were standing on a hill on Tatooine practicing emotes at each other.) I believe I can honestly say I have been more involved with the development of this game than any other non-SOE/Lucas Arts employee. So I do intend to be back in some role. Maybe I will try for chef correspondent again after other people have had a go at it. Or maybe I will find another correspondent position. Who knows? But I ain’t going nowhere. (Yes, I know, double negative. Did it for flavor.)
So, anyway, I am stepping down. I was planning on staying until the first, but with the timing of things that might not be possible. I know there are a lot of people on these boards who will do a great job.
Great job, SV! The chef profession is much better off because of your passion and hard work with the Chef community.
Yes, I do feel we should get fresh blood in every so often, but I agree with you that I was being too conservative with my once a month statement.
I honestly don't know how true that was. The player cities took a lot of development time. But once that was done, they were very enthusiastic about changes to the chef profession.

Wow, it's like the end of an era, or something. I don't know how true this is, but I've been secretly suspecting that the entire chef revamp is due solely to your petitioning the devs. I mean, we got a bigger variety of buffs (including skills!), milk became more plentiful, buff power increases fairly smoothly as you go up levels, experimentation percentages listed in the schematic actually seems to match reality, and while our stat buffs don't quite reach the level of doctor or entertainer buffs un-enhanced, I think what we do have to offer is greatly expanded.

Never thought this day would come, but I don't blame you. You should have been compensated in some fashion for the effort put forth into both our profession as well as the correspondent program as a whole.
GL, and I hop eyou enjoy just playing for a while, and not working.
It is truly a sad day, the end of an Era. Thank you again for all your hard work and effort SirVimes. You will be sorely missed.
