Thread: Publish 17 Killing my sales

Pre-CU my sales were amazing. Post-CU, as soon as I got my vendors stocked with all the goodies, my sales were amazing. Post-Pub 17, my sales suck a$$. I have a friend who's an entertainer and there have been days when she's made more money than I have. *THAT*, my friends, is sad, especially so because I'm a reasonably high volume chef. I'm sure it doesn't help that there's a new chef who's been spamming their *#(&(*%^$ undercutting wares out in Coronet the past few days either, but even my regular customer's sales have been dropping off the map.
So, 1. I hate undercutters. I wish nothing good for them. I'd go and buy them (her) out, except I don't want her stupid tags all over things that I'm selling on my vendors. (Sorry, 4am and I'm grouchy. Maybe I'll regret posting this when I wake up and find that I've been too honest again.) And 2. I can't stand that food buffs from different foods won't stack. It was fine that the same foods wouldn't stack. We could all work around that, but no stacking on things like Health? If they're that concerned about people with pumped up health bars, they should do something about the health crystals, which give a heck of a lot more juice for a heck of a lot longer than our foods do/did.
1st Off, I take offense.
Yes, I am a new chef, and im the one you are describing. The undercutting was a mathematical error on me, and I believe you are talking about the stuff I was charging 5k a piece for. Instead of charging 125k A crate, I mistakenly put 100k Thinking it was 5 * 4 * 5k. IT WAS A MISTAKE that has now been fixed. I in no way intended to undercut you, and in fact, I looked at your vendor recently, and I actually copied down some of your prices.
So what if im spamming? Its what gets buisness, and now that I have buisness, my spamming has stopped.
*I think you are just jealous that my store's name kick your store's name A$$
lol, jk of course ![]()

Actually, I was talking about things like parwan, which you are severely underpricing. Even with the current ridiculous spawns of milkable creatues, the market is set far above what you're charging, and believe me when I say that I was tempted to snatch your stock. It's a shame you take offense to it, but I've never been known to not speak my mind, and that won't change. As you can tell from the other responses to my original post, undercutting is generally frowned upon by all crafting professions, and sometimes the other folks take offense to the practices of the undercutters, so that's that. I only did a quick browse of your pricing, and I don't think I caught the instance you're referring to, but that's inconsequential - I saw what I needed to see.
Believe it or not, I've actually helped out a great deal of the new spawn of chefs/respec chefs on the server in terms of answering crafting questions and with pricing, so my comments aren't coming from the perspective of somebody who fears competition or has jealousy issues. That said, I appreciate the nice passive aggressive jab that you took above. I have to laugh when I catch people saying what they're really thinking, without actually being able to stand by it firmly. Throwing in the "j/k" doesn't have me at all convinced that you were truly just kidding.
All that aside, good luck with the business. May it be as kind to you as it has been to me.
Here's a comparison of how my sales of both chef food and spice have varied over the course of the post-CU
As you can see, a few days after the CU, as foods shifted from the pre-CU brandy/ahrisa/canape, sales were up. Post-Food Stacking change, sales were way up, now foods have lowered post publish 17 by half the income if not lower.
Days in which the food income is severely low (2mil or lower) were patch days, in which the server was down over 75% of the day.
Yes, the stacking fix did kill my sales, however I am still able to make money. Unfortunately I am still in pre-pub17 mode and have the BE suppliers stocking up components on my vendor for me to purchase... dont want to keep them angry ![]()
Some days are just better than other for me also. Spend several hours spamming yesterday and sold NADA!
Today i spammed and posted on the forums and sold 1 mil in 10 mins!
So i guess it depends on the timing and when the cash coes are online, Dont give up though, still a fun profession
and i make a decent living on it

I agree about the under cutters. We have some on my sever. That is probobly a factor in whats going on.
You talking about me Rob?
yes lol

Lol, you crack me up sometimes. Its not really undercutting, at my prices I still make a pretty penny and I'm not running around crazy keeping the vendors stocked. Ever since I dropped AS I only log on about 10-20 minutes a day, its perfect for me now.
Not a shot at you Di, it might sound like it though.
Although I did get the hate tells/mails/PM's fromanother chefsfriends. But as I have always done in business, if someone comes after you, you come back stronger![]()
Kill, kill, kill![]()

How about you stop uppercutting the market, and stop complaining about me undercutting it.EDIT *OMFG this took me about 5 hours to get posted because of the stupid forums and their " 'style =' must be removed" crapMessage Edited by imlost19 on 06-09-2005 09:44 PM

So would this be you complaining about complaining? LOL.
And to the other poster who mentioned something about my being rude, I truly wasn't shooting for rude; I was shooting for honest, and I don't see any reason to sugar coat it. As you said, it is a game, afterall. *shrug* I happen to be one of those people that realizes there are real live people behind the characters we see every day, so if I hurt your feelings, I apologize. I'm not entirely sure whether it was imlost's intention was to be passive aggressive, but it came off that way to me. Maybe I misinterpreted.
Anyway, let's have some fun. If you want to price lower on a CPU basis, and I want to price higher based on market trends, then we have a difference of opinion, and so be it, but we can at least be civil.
...Edited for stupid grammatical mistakes. I'm frickin' exhausted.

My sales are way, way down as well. ![]()
The no stacking and most folks not really being able to notice
the diff food makes anymore would be my guess.
